The current state of timeshares on the market shows a declining number of residential sales, apart from the condos. Its sales drastically suffered during the recession. He did not specifically mention that owners of timeshares should get rid of their properties but he pointed out that those who are considering buying timeshares should not do so to be able to invest. According to him, timeshare is a lifestyle, not an investment.

What Finkelstein said is true. It is not an investment but a lifestyle choice. It may involve properties that are real estate in nature but the way that the business is being run is far from the way real estate work. It is a lifestyle because it is a holiday package. You only get to own it because of the number of days that you can use the properties freely. And to be able to do so, you pay maintenance fees and other associated fees that the company may require you to pay. And the economy may rise up again but the status of timeshares will continue to be the same. So, timeshare owners and those who want to buy timeshares should not consider the purchase as a financial investment, besides, it is difficult to get rid of timeshares.

Among the timeshare vacation destinations, Australia is said to be on top of the list among the American timeshare vacation package owners. The timeshare owners who did not seek for relief from their timeshares continue to go on vacation in their preferred timeshare locations. According to the CEO for Group RCI, Geoff Ballotti, the development of the timeshare industry in Australia will continue to increase because of the great demand from the United States. Most Americans have not gone to the Land Down Under and would like to see its sights and sounds.

The leading industry figure reflects that Australia is the current location destination for American vacationers who own timeshares. It is the hottest and the most sought after vacation site and developing such location will benefit timeshare developers. Disney, Marriott and other timeshare larger brands can opt to develop Gold Coast and other sites in the country.
