Making money online

When I first decided that I would try to make money online, I had no idea how I was going to build a website or what I would need to make this possible. I searched endlessly through countless websites offering easy website building and websites with pre-made templates. Two of the best that I could find and am using at the moment are:-

They have an easy step by step guide, with pre-made templates, all you have to do is add the content and you have the option to publish your website without the need for FTP. Which I am still not used to. This was it, I was ready to go, or I thought that I was. What would I put on this site, what did I think would bring in people to view it and how would I make sure that people would keep coming back to the site time and time again. All these ideas going around in my head, looking great, but actually getting them onto my website was a different matter, as I had made the BIG mistake of naming my site before I had researched properly.

A problem that I think many people have also encountered when doing this. I still had to think how I was going to make money from it. I started researching the internet. looking for sites that I could join, offering free stuff to all that came to my site, and in return, get paid for it. I had read about being an affiliate for Amazon, All Posters, Google adwords etc....So I applied to them so I could advertise their products on my site. I was accepted to all except Google, as my site was still under construction. This was no good to me, I got discouraged searching everyday for things to add to my site and not getting anywhere. I had read about Pay Per Click, where I pay for Advertisments, but I had no money to pay for this service. Back to square 1.

I continued searching for affiliate sites that I could join, then I had a brainwave, what type of sites are people most likely to search for......Dating sites. I searched and by chance, stumbled upon a dating site where I could be an affiliate and also have my OWN dating site. YES...you heard right, my own dating site, well I did not have to think twice about it, you can see it here.


This is a normal dating site, but I also have an adult dating site.

If you decide that you would also like to become an affiliate for them, then the link to become a partner is at the bottom of the main page. This is a great way to meet new people if you are single, and also a way to make money by advertising the site to all your contacts on your mailing list. The more people that join, the more money that you can make, and you do not have to do anything except let people know about it.

My 2 dating sites were up and running, I had told all my friends and people that I talked to online about it. All I had to do was just sit back and watch all the visitors start to come in, or so I thought. I was at a friends house one day, and wanted to show him my dating site, I entered it on google's search engine and did not get a result back for it, I could not understand how this could happen to me! Where had I gone wrong. I had not realised that for a site to be on a search engine, that you had to submit it. There are lots of free search engine submission sites, and there are also ones that you pay for the use of the service. Obviously if you pay, then your site is registered and entered in the search engines quicker. Otherwise it can take upto 6 weeks.

A good site that I have just found that you can submit your site to a lot of search engines at the same time and gives you alot of information about how to promote your site is below.

All my sites are now submitted to Google, Yahoo and selfpromotion all for the costly sum of £0.00. And as I am writing to you now, if you search for tingtongman on google, I am 3rd 7th and 10th position on the first page. All this from having a unique name (tingtongman) and a little bit of hard work. If you follow my techniques so far, then you too can have a top page listing on Google.

Even though I have 3 sites on the first page of a search engine, that does not mean that I can stop with the marketing (trying to get people to my site). As my total earnings so far are not enough for me to give up my day job. As I write this, I am continuing to search for more ways to make money online. I will keep you updated on my progress and will continue to give updates on sites that you too can use to make money online.
