What is Tinnitus?

Tinnitus is a condition where the sufferer hears noises that no one else can. These are internal noises so are usually caused by something in the ears. The noises heard can vary but they usually involve ringing, buzzing, hissing and sometimes clicking.

Many people suffer from Tinnitus of varying levels - that is, some with have temporary tinntus where the problem comes and goes, while others may have suffered for much longer periods. Some people have even been told that they cannot be cured. Please note, this is not accurate - you CAN get rid of your tinnitus but only if you understand what has caused it.

Cures For Tinnitus

There are many possible cures for the tinnitus you are suffering and its not quite as easy as prescribing some antibiotics. In order to treat it, you must treat the cause of the problem, not the symptoms which is the noises you can here.

There are many potential causes however such as the following;

* Nerve damage from stress or repeated exposure to loud noises
* Sinus problems
* allergy
* hearing loss (due to age)
* head injuries
* Anemia
* Change in blood flow to the ears (including any of the above)

To take one example, if the blood flow to your ears changes because one of the veins is blocked, the blood will travel through one of the other ones - this will make it much more busy along the passage much the same as a river carrying extra water. This can cause whirring noises in your ear because of the blood flow.

It is also important to remember that some foods and cosmetics contain ingredients that can cause tinnitus. Toothpaste for sensitive teeth and aspirin for example can trigger tinnitus in people that use them and the only way to stop the noises you can hear is to stop using the products that contain them,
