The word tinnitus originates from a Latin word which signifies 'ringing'.

It is usually experienced as a ringing and or buzzing noise in the ears and head, when there is no external noise present.

Lots of people suffer from tinnitus, including the actor William Shatner, and it is estimated that about 10% of the world's population suffers from mild tinnitus all the time.

One of the most common causes of tinnitus is damage inflicted to the microscopic endings of the hearing nerve in the inner ear.

There are various remedies for tinnitus and one of the best that I've found is available for download here.

Natural Tinnitus Remedies

There are many remedies for tinnitus available today and these range from natural remedies right through to alternative therapies.

Hypnosis generates a lot of relief from this disorder and is one of the most popular and effective remedies for tinnitus.

One big advantage of hypnosis is that it is completely natural and has no side effects. This, coupled with a high success rate, makes it an excellent choice. You can download an inexpensive hypnosis tinnitus MP3 here and start reducing your suffering.

Another treatment centers on correcting the fundamental causes of tinnitus and involves procedures which include removing excessive ear wax, controlling ear infections, specialized treatment in the form of surgery, and so on. This is a drastic solution but your doctor will be able to help you decide whether it is a route for you to follow.

Before you resort to surgery, it is well worth investigating the various natural remedies for tinnitus that are available, including:

How to Cure Tinnitus

One very practical and down to earth tinnitus cure is 'distraction'. This is literally taking your mind elsewhere - distracting it. Whilst it is unlikely that this will cure your tinnitus permanently, it can be a very effective short term solution whilst you are working on a longer lasting cure.

The next option is to take up some kind of relaxation technique. This can be as simple as setting aside some time to listen to some soothing music or it can involve you using a purpose recorded relaxation MP3.

One particularly effective tinnitus relief program works at a number of different levels and has been proven to reduce or even eliminate tinnitus in a large number of former sufferers.

Another way you can use to cope with your tinnitus is to cover up the ringing sounds with other noises. Something as simple as a fan in the background may be enough or you may need to go further and get a white noise machine (often used by people who have difficulty sleeping).
