Tinnitus Sounds - Learn What Is It All About

Are you wondering what is the ringing, buzzing, or hissing that you perceive in your ears even though there is no external noise? Well, it is just one of the tinnitus sounds that can prove to be annoying and bothersome. While it can be inconsistent and soft enough that it can be ignored, it can also be consistent and loud enough that it can affect how you perform your daily activities.

Some tinnitus sounds are associated with the root cause of the condition. For noise-induced cochlear damage, ringing bells, chirping, hissing, and roaring noises are the ones associated with it. For sinusitis or allergies, included are clucking or cracking, gurgling, and high-pitched ringing noises. The noises associated with stress, on the other hand, include whistling, whizzing, and rushing and roaring noises.

While the unwanted sound that you experience is not life-threatening in itself, it can have serious implications and effects. The most apparent implication is that you may be suffering suffering from an underlying medical condition. Other than the ones mentioned above, it can either be age-associated loss of hearing, Meniere's Disease, head injuries, vitamin B12 deficiency, and circulatory disorders like hypertension, malformation of the capillaries, and atherosclerosis.

Thus, when you hear a ringing sound of sorts even though there is no external source, consult with a physician the soonest time possible. He or she can do some exams to know where the unwanted sound is coming from. If the root cause is determined, finding the right treatment for you becomes less difficult. If you are undergoing an existing treatment for a different condition, he or she can also advise you which tinnitus remedies will not impede that existing treatment.

If you can deal with the unwanted sound by natural means, then stick with them. Natural remedies include listening to music set to a moderate volume in order to mask the ringing noise and avoiding triggering agents like salty foods, chocolates, coffee, soda, alcohol, and nicotine. In order to control stress, find time to relax by having a warm bath, walking your dog, reading a few lines from your book, or any activity that works for you.

Any of the tinnitus sounds can affect anyone of us, but while it has not affected you yet, do something to minimize the probability of you getting affected by it. Common sense activities like not playing our stereos or MP3 players too loud and wearing earplugs when going to very noisy places would be a good start.
