Where is Tiny ON?
Tiny Township is a small rural township located on the shores of Southern Georgian Bay in Ontario, Canada. The shoreline runs along the bay and this 45 miles has the most beautiful freshwater beaches in the world. Sunsets on Georgian Bay are definitelt the best in the world.
The simple life, the beaches, the outdoor life has attracted more people looking to get away from the city. The population of about 8000 is spread out over 160 sq miles and swells to about 80,000 in the summer.
Tiny is made up of 5 hamlets, Perkinsfield, Wyevale, Wyebridge, Lafontaine and Toanche. As well there are 46 small community beaches along the shoresline.
Another interesting tidbit about Tiny's history is that it got its name from a dog! Yes, Lady Maitland, wife of the Lieutenant-Governor of Upper Canada, names the three townships - Tiny, Tay and Flos - after her dogs.
She was a great lady :)

A Little Bit of History
Tiny Township is bilingual. French, English and First nations cultures are evident in Tiny. The Jesuit missionaries explored and settled in Wendake an area close to Midland ON for a ten year period in the mid 1600s. Ste Marie Among the Huron is a re-created site depicting life of the Jesuit missionaries and The Huron in 1639. It is truly a delight and well worth it to see First Night in early December. The entire site is lit only by thousands of candles. Local choirs sing, interpretive guides bakes cookies, make tea, lead tours and help children make Christmas crafts. First Nations people tell stories and sing in the long houses.
Historic re-enactors wear uniforms of the 18th-century and demonstrating military drills on the historic site. The Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre exhibits natural crafts.
The Britsh established a naval establishment on the shores near Penetaguishene, ON to protect the north-westerly trade and exploration of the Great Lakes.
