I have some words of advice for you guys out there and it's this: Choosing gifts for women takes more than a passing thought. It requires patience and care. Your choice of a gift for that special woman in your life should be guided by a number of different factors.

One is the occasion such as anniversary, birthday, new baby, graduation. Another is your relationship to her. Is she a partner, parent, friend, boss, colleague, neighbor, etc.? The final factor is what kind of woman she is. Is she athletic, fashion-conscious, book lover, outgoing? Oh yea, don't forget about the price either.

Think about what kinds of things she likes or enjoys. Do you share a love of the outdoors or a favorite band? Does she love to paint or mosaic? Remember, you're looking for things that she wants and likes, not things that you want her to want or like.

Ask her to go shopping with you. True, this might be asking a little too much, but shopping with her really is the best place to find ideas of what she may like. Try to pay attention to which stores her eyes light up in, what things she likes but won't touch because they're too expensive, etc.

Listen when she name drops different brands or stores. She may love a line of jewelry or a particular brand of clothing. Check out online stores and see what she's talking about, and whether or not you can afford what she wants.

What kinds of things does she already have? Is she a fan of certain colors more than other or perhaps or particular type of music or a genre of book? Use this as a chance to learn more about your lady, and to pay attention to her wants and desires. Not only will this help you buy a better gift, but you'll also be a better friend.
