Quickly Eliminate Bed Bugs

If you have ever come in contact with the invasion of bed bugs I am sure you will agree that they are the most horrifying invaders of our personal space. They bite you in the middle of the night, leaving horrible welts are over your body. They leave a feeling of fear and paranoia as they multiply and take over your bed. Your first instinct is to throw out everything, your clothes, your bed and everything they come in contact with. The only problem is that throwing out your personal contents does not solve the problem. Effective treatment methods are required to reach the source of the infestation and prevent further infestations from occurring. The goal is to eliminate bed bugs effectively and quickly without blowing your finances on new clothes and furniture.

1. Hire An Exterminator

When dealing with bed bugs, especially if you have a major infestation, the best way to get the problem under control and prevent them from spreading is to hire a professional. Look for a certified exterminator, that is licensed and insured in your area. Get recommendations from others or see if there are any testimonials online. Check out the supplier on the Better Business Bureau. If you live in an apartment building or condo, talk to your landlord or property manager who might be able to cover the cost of the extermination or recommend a good contractor to use.

2. Dry Clean Your Fabrics

The chemicals used to dry clean fabrics will kill bed bugs. Bed Bugs can still survive a local washer and dryer machine if temperatures do not reach above 140 degrees.

Due to the expense of dry cleaning, if you must wash your clothes at the local laundrymat make sure you shake your clothes and sheets out well in case they are embedded in your laundry. You can get an inexpensive Stream Cleaner that will also help kill the bed bugs and eggs that might be hidden in your laundry, mattresses, curtains, and other fabrics. It will be a long manual process but it will save you money on dry cleaning bills.

3.Seal Up Your Garmets

Purchase Bed Bug Resistant Bags to prevent bed bugs from hiding in your clothes, especially beneficial when traveling. It is also good to invest in a Mattress Encasement and pillow protectors. This will help keep bed bugs from hiding in the seams of your mattress or kill off any remaining bugs that are trapped inside.

This will help get to the bed bugs, eggs and larvae hidden away. Make sure you empty your vacuum bag immediately afterwards and dispose of the debris.

5. Use Diatomaceous Earth

Use Diatomaceous Earth carefully as the dust can be harmful to your lungs.. Use a dust mask and disposable gloves when applying the earth around cracks and crevices and the areas around your mattress. Diatomaceous Earth is very effective in killing bedbugs as it lacerates their body when they pass through it. Use it as a post treatment method for preventing the bedbugs from resurfacing.
