Tips To Help You Create The Nursery Of Your Dreams
Ranked #54,245 in Home & Garden, #902,229 overall
Creating the most adorable nursery is every parent's dream. To set out on a journey of creating the best nursery for your baby, it may be easier to start with the floor and work your way up to the mobiles on the ceiling. Gone are the days when all nurseries were set up with all pastel colors. Studies have shown that the senses of babies are developed much earlier than first thought and now they recommend brighter colors for visual stimulation and soft nursery rhymes playing in the background to help them discover sound. Soft scents such as lavender are relaxing and they also encourage development of the baby's sense of smell. Let's look at safe ways to set up a nursery that are also functional. We'll use colors and nursery rugs that are best for baby to create a wonderful nursery!
Clean-up
Your first step should include cleaning out the room completely and then clean the floor. If the floor is carpeted and you choose to keep that carpet in the room make sure it is cleaned thoroughly. If the floor is hardwood, consider adding wall to wall carpet as a safety measure for your baby. Consider slightly deeper green walls, and then you can decorate in almost any contrasting color to stimulate your baby. Nursery rugs in cream or even lighter green area rugs will create the kind of contrast you need. Almost any choice will look great with pink or blue accessories. After deciding on paint colors and carpet colors to match or contrast each other you're halfway there.

Whether you're having a boy or a girl, green rugs will work well for both. There are many shades of green to choose from but remember that a darker green will show everything that may be on the floor. That might be just what you don't want under any other circumstances, but in a baby's room you will want to see everything so you can be sure to clean it up quickly before baby finds it. You will also want to add solid color rugs on top of the green carpet to add contrast and extra padding to the floor by the crib and by the changing table. If a baby is going to take a fall it is always better to provide them a softer landing. Doubling the depth of the carpet will help protect baby just in case an accident occurs.

Other area rugs suggestions
Nice soft flokati area rugs will add contrast and depth to your floors. Off white shag rugs will look like puffy clouds under your feet. Yellow duck rugs will contrast the green beautifully, and multi-colored baby block nursery rugs will be simply adorable anywhere in the nursery including being hung up on the walls as décor. Add pastel solid color rugs to contrast your carpet and compliment your paint. Even the baby mint green rugs will be a lovely addition to the nursery.
Furnishings
As soon as all the paint and nursery rugs are in place you can begin putting your nursery furnishings back in to the room. Be sure to double check that the paint on the furniture is lead free, and check the crib recall list online to be sure the crib you have selected has not been found to be a safety hazard.
