Helpful Tips to Help You Choose a Name for Your Baby

Whether you are having your first, second, third, or fourth baby...choosing a name for your baby is a big deal and always a tough decision.

By following these tips, the process of choosing a name for your baby will hopefully be easier.

Remember, a name is something a person has to live with for their entire lives. Make sure you name your baby something you can live with forever.

Pick a Name That Fits With Your Last Name

When choosing a baby name, choose a name that fits with your last name. Avoid picking a first and last name with the same amount of letters. Also don't name your baby something that rhymes and doesn't flow. For example, don't name your baby Lacey Kacey :)

Notice the name rhymes AND has the same amount of letters.

Incorporate Family Names

You may want to name your baby after a family member or someone that means a lot to you. If you don't want the first name to be named after someone, try the middle name.

You can even mix names to include more than one member of the family.

For example,

Using the name Ann and Lee could be Annalee.

Other Childrens names

If you have other children, you might want to choose a baby name that sounds good with your other childrens names. For example, avoid doing something like this...

Anna
Tim
Lucy
Eziekialthad

:) And yes, I made that last one up. Maybe it is a real name?

Spelling

A lot of people are trying to find different and unique ways to spell their childrens names. While this is okay, avoid it when using a common name like Emily.

Your child won't want to go through life always correcting people or having their name mispelled on everything.

Treat Others How You Would Want To Be Treated

Don't name your kid something you would not want to be named yourself. Chances are, if you would hate being named whatever name it is, they will too. Treat others the way you would want to be treated :) Give them a name they can be proud of!

Hidden Jokes

Avoid naming your baby something with a hidden joke.

Some names can be shortened or changed slightly to mean something differently. Also, don't name your baby a name just because you think its funny!

For example,

Paige Turner

It might look good written, but if you say it out loud it sounds like "Page Turner"

Say It Out Loud

Like the above example, say the name out loud to yourself and to other people you know. Does it sound good? Does it flow?

Eve
Evie
