Quick Weight Loss Tips

The onset of the Industrial Revolution realized a significant shift in our diets. Processing and refinement removed much of the nutritional value in our foods, and refined sugar became widely available.

And now, with our almost complete dependence on technology for virtually every aspect of our daily lives, from transportation to food production to basic communication, over 50 percent of Americans are either overweight or obese. Dieting and weight loss products are every where. Everyone wants to lose weight but has trouble sticking to a diet.  Here are a few quick weight loss tips to help you get started.

Fight Those Cravings!

Our predecessors survived and flourished on unprocessed, unrefined meats, vegetables, fruits and grains - why can't we? Ironically, we are now looking to the lifestyles and diets of our predecessors to determine the most effective, healthy way to lose weight.

Our ancestor's way of life required a lot of daily physical activity, and what they ate depended on what was available rather than simply considering flavor or our current day compulsive, stress-related cravings.

The increased number or organic an unrefined products on the market today serves as a testament to the simpler lives of our ancestors.

Weight Loss Education

Losing weight is more important than simply losing a few pounds so you can fit in that old pair of blue jeans. It's important for your well being and physical health.

That's why it's important to educate yourself about the best ways to lose weight and the best ways to keep it off.

Exercise is a must for dieters, even if it's only to keep your metabolism up as your weight goes down. It's hard to keep yourself motivated, and it's even harder when you know that there are still so many pounds to go.

Many dieters find that losing weight can actually be stressful; there's always the fear that you'll "fall off the wagon" and end up gaining everything that you've lost.

Exercise can be a great stress reliever, and when you combine exercise with a healthy, low-fat diet and other stress management techniques, you'll find that losing weight and maintaining your ideal weight is easier than you think.

Our Ancestors

Our ancestors had to work hard to put food on the table. They spent many hours every day hunting for meat and gathering fruits and vegetables.

Those were the staples in their diet. With all this daily activity they didn't have to worry about gaining a few extra pounds.

The development of agriculture made the hunters and gatherers change from an independent nomadic society to a one with established communities where they tended their fields and flocks.

This required that they stay in one area and form bonds with other members of their society to help them increase food production and develop other survival skills.

The downside to all this is that because they remained in one general area they developed a more sedentary way of living. Better access to home grown fruits and vegetables and easy access to farm raised animals for a source of meat made them more susceptible to weight problems.

Obesity subsequently developed as a result of the progress that our society had made socially and technologically.

Changing Eating Habits

Finally, what could be more motivating for a dieter than menu choices that look great, taste wonderful, and are low in fat and calories? Make the most of every meal with flavorful soups, salads, and entrees. And remember, weight loss is a way of life, not just a diet.

You have to develop a new mental attitude towards food. You have to look at food as fuel for your body and not just a pleasurable way to pass the time or relieve stress.

Reducing stress and implementing an exercise program that fits into your schedule and lifestyle are also very important to losing weight. Follow these tips, and you'll be on your way to a healthy, happier, thinner YOU!
