Tips for the First Date | The First Date Can Determine Everything
Had I known some good and solid tips for the first date , I wouldn't have done so horribly. When I went on my very FIRST date in my relatively young life, I was more nervous than a turkey at Christmas. We're sitting at Starbucks close to the college she was attending and I truly had no idea what to say. It was already dark outside, so I couldn't exactly comment on the "beautiful day". Having been rained all afternoon, I couldn't say "love the rain, huh?"
The only thing I knew to do, from watching TV or a listening to a certain Chris Rock stand up bit, was ask the girl questions so she could spend a long time answering them. Well, that tactic worked for a couple questions; the school ones. But I didn't expect her answers to be so short when it came to general questions about her. Talk about awkward silence. It took a couple 2 tables away from us making a large scene in front of everyone with an argument to get us to start chatting about something.
After the evening was over, we were polite with smiles and being courteous, even exchanged numbers. But when I called her a couple days later, there was never any response. No call backs. No text messages. What did I do wrong?

First Date Mistakes
Don't Be Too Hard On Yourself After An Unsuccessful First Date
I began to doubt my own attractiveness, worried about asking someone for a date, heck I even doubted ever getting another one. Everything about that night really messed me up in a self esteem sort of way. I remember running into a couple of friends at Starbucks that evening and having one of them comment on how silly I was dressed that evening and how my colors didn't match. Fashion Police!!!

A First Date Tip or Two
Dating Tips
First was the way I dressed. I had mismatched some colors, paired up jeans with some 70's type shirt with a large collar. I even left an extra button unbuttoned with some gaudy monstrosity of a necklace that was bright enough to blind anyone standing 10 ft away from me. I doubt you'll be as bad as me and my outfit mishap, but tip number one; dress appropriately. When going to a basketball game for a date, jeans would be better than a suit or something close to that nature. Unlike me, don't dress seductively. My unbuttoned shirt with the necklace flashing around definitely did not work on my date.
Second was location. Supposedly, the less complicated the location, the better. It's best to be in an area that is relaxing and peaceful. Not a place where there's alot of commotion and distractions. It should be a place where both people can enjoy the evening and be able to break the ice with laughter and ease the tension; something that was abundant in my first date.
