Saved, Sanctified, Filled With The Spirit
How To Be Saved
You know we are saved by hearing or reading the Word of God. So we should read AND MEDITATE on some of the Word of God day and night. We need to come out of the world and be separate. A lot of modern people are coming in and joining the lodge, the ecumenical movement, Christian Zionism, Chrislam, etc., but the Bible says that we should come out from among them and be separate. 2 Corinthians 6:14-18. Read Psalm chapter 1. I don't believe that we have eternal security by saying a little prayer once, but I believe that we should be born again, present tense, as we continue in the Word. After we have continued in the Word for a time, not just hearing it but doing it, we can ask Jesus Christ, calling on His name, Lord Jesus, to set us free from being a servant of sin. This is called sanctification. See John 9:33-37. We need to stop sinning. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. We should start going to a church somewhere if we are able, but the big thing is getting into the Bible every day and doing what it says. And then, once we are a saved and sanctified Christian, we must ask God to give us the Holy Spirit. The real Holy Ghost doesn't dwell in people living unholy lives. When you have the Holy Spirit dwelling in you, you will speak in other tongues and groan in the Spirit daily. The Holy Spirit will guide you. Then you will be ready to go to heaven via death or the second coming of Christ. "Lord Jesus, save me, sanctify me and fill me with the Holy Spirit. Amen."

So what does the Bible have to say about tithes and offerings? Malachi 3:8 says "Yet ye have robbed me... In tithes and offerings." So perhaps we should tithe to our local church but we also need to give offerings of alms to the poor. In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus taught about "when thou doest alms" in Matthew 6:3. When you fast. When you pray. So Jesus Christ expected us to give alms to the poor in addition to our tithes.
So it's obvious Jesus wants us to give alms. I can tell the story about gentile Cornelius. He was a Roman centurion. He was apparently reading the Old Testament of the Bible and trying to do what it said. The Bible says he was a "devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway." Acts 10:2. He was finding all of this in the Old Testament of the Bible,
And there is a lot in the Old Testament of the Bible about giving alms to the poor. The virtuous woman of Proverbs "stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy." Proverbs 31:20. Proverbs 28:27 says "He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse." We know that Job gave much to the poor and needy, and throughout the Old Testament we see that the righteous were ones who helped the poor and needy.
Back to the New Testament, in 3 John we see that Gaius was one who the Apostle John wished would "prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." 3 John 2. And Gaius was apparently a man who showed "charity" to "the brethren, and to strangers." So this man's ministry of almsgiving was commended by the Apostle John.
Jesus talked about a hypocritical Jew who bragged in prayer about his tithing and fasting twice a week. But Jesus said he was proud and his prayer was "with himself." Luke 18:11. This man walked away unjustified while a publican, who smote himself on his breast and said "God be merciful to me a sinner" went away justified. Luke 18:13. So a lot of people who tithe today will likely still end up in hell, while those who generously give to the poor and needy, and read and meditate on their King James version Bible day and night and try their best to do everything it says, will be the ones going to heaven. This Pharisee was apparently just giving tithes but robbing God of offerings of almsgivings to the poor.
And Jesus talked about the sheep and goat nations in Matthew 25:31-46. Jesus will one day divide all the people of the world into two groups, The one, the sheep, go to heaven and the goats go to hell. The sheep are those who have given food, drink and clothing (almsgiving) to the poor and needy Christians while the goats are those who didn't.
Many Christians today, like the hypocritical Pharisees, give 10% to their local church, which they should, while giving little if anything to poor and needy people. I think Jesus would be more happy with you if, like Zacchaeus in the Bible (Luke 19:1-10), you would give 50% of your income to the poor and needy over and above your tithes as he did. This was the ONLY rich man that Jesus Christ commended. The other rich man Jesus encountered he told to sell everything he had and give it all to the poor and that then he would have riches in heaven.
The Bible promises that those who help the poor are laying up treasures for themselves in heaven. Luke 12:33. The great old Christian book, Pilgrim's Progress, also promotes giving to the poor rather than tithing. The Bible says the lost Pharisees tithed, attended synagogue, and praised the Lord but were still "of their father the devil." Jesus Christ told them "Give alms of such things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you." Luke 11:41.
"Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you," the Bible says in James 5:1. And this is talking about the last days we're living in. The ONLY way for the rich of the last days to get to heaven is to be willing to help the poor and needy when asked. "Charge them that are rich in this world that they be...ready to distribute, willing to communicate." 1 Timothy 6:17-19. Also I don't believe the Bible teaches that all Jews will end up in heaven just because they're Jews. The rich man from the rich man and Lazarus story who lifted up his eyes in hell, being in torments, was obviously a Jew. Luke 16:19-31. This story also shows that there is a literal, burning hell and that we aren't instantly burned up in it as some teach..
John Wesley preached a famous sermon, "The Use of Money," in which he said that we should make all the money we can but then save all we can by practicing the self denial that Jesus Christ requires of his disciples. "And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me." Luke 9:23. Then Wesley said we are to give all we can, especially to the poor and needy. "But rather give alms of such things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you," Jesus Christ tells us in Luke 11:41.
You know that as disciples of Jesus Christ EVERYTHING we have is to be at his disposal, not just 10%. One Pharisee bragged that he tithed 10% of his income but his prayer never got off the ground. As disciples of Jesus Christ we MUST deny ourselves and take up our cross DAILY. "So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple." Luke 14:33. "And he (Jesus) said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me." Luke 9:23.
Pray this prayer with me right now: "Father, I come to you now in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Help me to have a heart for the poor and needy. Help me to tithe 10% of my income to my local church from now on, but also to not rob you of generous offerings beyond those tithes, even today to this ministry, of offerings of alms to the poor and needy even to as much as 50% or more of my income as Zaccheus did. In Jesus name. Amen."

Tithes and Offerings - Is The Second Coming Of Christ Near?
Tithe, Tithes, Tithing Why Tithe, Should Christians Tithe?
Yes, I believe it is! We're in the last days. The world today is a lot like Sodom and Gomorrha. Part of the problem there was they were not helping the poor and needy. The rich were oppressing the poor. Today we have a Congress of mostly millionaires in the United States looking out just for the millionaires. Shipping the jobs overseas for selfish profits. The United States may very well be the Babylon of Bible prophecies in Revelations chapter 18 and Jeremiah chapters 50 and 51. If God judged Sodom and Gomorrha how can He not soon judge the United States? He's no respecter of persons. These people of Sodom and Gomorrha were Jews, not pagans or heathen. Many of these rich think they've gotten away with what they've been doing for years. Maybe even their parents and grandparents were doing these same things. They don't expect that they will be thrown into hell soon for these filthy practices if they don't repent, but they will. Read James chapter 5. It explains exactly what's happening today. We need to watch and pray always that we may be accounted worthy to escape all of these things that shall come to pass and to stand before the Son of Man. See Luke 21:34-36. We need to ask for rain in the time of the latter rain. And what's needed is sanctification. There's a lot of talk about salvation in the modern church, but little about sanctification. Jesus Christ told two people to "sin no more" so I think we need to do this. We need to seek God for a deep level of sanctification and we will receive it. Then we need to ask Jesus Christ to baptize us with the Holy Ghost and fire and fill us with the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in other tongues. "He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire" John the Baptist said. Jesus Christ will tell many in the day of His return "Depart from me, ye that work iniquity. I never knew you." Don't be one of these.

"Him That Cometh Unto Me I Will In No Wise Cast Out." - Jesus
Jesus Christ said in John 6:37 "him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." Are you willing to come to Him? I like that. The church of Jesus Christ is a catholic church, meaning universal or worldwide. Everyone is welcome. I've gone to some churches and they look you over and they don't want you there. They don't want you there if you're poor. They don't want you there if you're sick or handicapped or a certain race, but that's not the way Jesus is. Everyone's welcome.
"And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved." Acts 2:21. We come unto the Lord Jesus by calling on his name, and then we "shall be saved." Jesus Christ said "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28-30. We can cast our cares, our heavy burdens, on Him. Then take His burden, which is light, and His yoke, upon you. There's only two Masters, two gods out there, Jesus Christ and Satan. "Choose ye this day whom ye will serve." Do you want to serve God or the devil? It's that simple. You can choose what side you want to be on.
The early church fasted. They gave alms to the poor. They preached the gospel. They cast out demons. They prayed for the sick to get well with the laying on of hands. The same Jesus who saves you will baptize you in the Holy Spirit if you seek Him for it. The Bible says "Seek and ye shall find." Matthew 7:7. Get saved, baptized in the Holy Ghost, fast, pray, read the Bible (King James version is recommended) every day, give alms to the poor, and get baptized in water. Don't just go through the motions. The Bible says Jesus will spew the lukewarm Christians out of His mouth when He comes again. Get on fire. Be a wise virgin with the oil of the Holy Spirit in your lamp, and you will be ready for His soon coming.

- "These people of Sodom and Gomorrha were Jews, not pagans or heathen."
The problem is that the Jews claim to be descendants of Abraham, and Abraham didn't even have a son until a long time after the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, two chapters later, so they could not be Jews.
They most likely were pagans and heathen as you said they weren't.

- Hi, I'm a catholic and right now I'm new with the word Tithe, but I love to help the poor.. giving them foods and clothes when I happen to pass by them and it's like I want to help them on the shadows, I mean I don't want people to praise me, I just want to do it with love. I'm not asking for anything in return, you just feel how lucky you are and have to share what God had gave me that's all. Now, I'm doing part time job, and I was wondering if donating not money counts as the 10% I've read in this page.
