Why We Need To Be Safe And Sound

How We Began

Hi,

Do you remember earlier years when we all felt so safe and sound that we kept our front door unlocked. I even recall that some people considered it unfriendly to have locked doors. If one was not home and friends called it was not unusual for the visitors to enter and wait for their hosts to arrive. Those were lovely days that are only faint and beautiful memories now.
Unfortunately, times have changed and we no longer can be as safe and sound as were were decades ago. Our streets are no longer safe and home invasions occur more often than we want to know. It has become necessary to take sensible precautions to protect ourselves and our loved ones when we go out as well as to guard our homes and property.

For many years I served as a police officer and now that I am a civilian decided that I can help others to be safe and sound by offering home security and personal safety products at affordable prices. So I began my company, http://www.tobesafeandsound.com.

Alarms, Whistles and Sirens

Your First Line of Defense

"Your voice" I was told at a self defense class "is your best weapon". A good loud yell may change an attacker's mind and attract help from onlookers. Remember though, the best call is to scream "fire". The thought of fire has more impact that either "rape" or "stop thief". You need to know How To Protect Yourself From Crime!

Even better than a human voice are alarms, whistles and sirens. Many such products are available and we happily offer them at To Be Safe And Sound. We have a variety of personal alarms for everyone. Some are combination flashlights with powerful beams and really loud alarms that are small enough to go on a keychain or on a lanyard around your neck or attached to a knapsack or purse. A personal alarm or whistle should be carried by everyone.

There are alarms and sirens for homes, offices, business, stores and warehouses that are set off by motion detectors. An intruder prefers to leave a protected venue and to go to an unprotected location.

Hide Your Valuables in Plain Sight

With a Diversion Safe

Can you really hide your valuables in plain sight? Of course you can if you use a diversion safe. What is a diversion safe you might ask? A diversion safe is an ordinary object that may be found in any home, business or office that has been modified to conceal a hidden compartment where you can safety place your cash, jewelry, keys or credit cards. A thief will look in all the obvious places and will overlook your valuables hidden in the dog food or water bottle.

A diversion save may be a hollowed out book, modified cans of food, motor oil or soda bottles as well as many other every day objects.

Spy Cameras

Hidden Cameras or Nanny Cams

Spy cameras have multiple uses and are also known as hidden cameras and nanny cams. These are usually tiny cameras that can be hidden inside an every day object such as a cigarette package, ball point pen or book. We even have some hidden inside can openers and alarm clocks.
At To Be Safe And Sound we have an amazing collection of security items and are constantly getting in new items.

Hidden cameras or nanny cams are used for surveillance in the home or in a business to check in order to observe what is going on in when the home owner or boss is away. It is especially important for parents to see how their child is being cared for by the baby sitter. You can even have a nanny cam hidden inside a teddy bear.

Crime Prevention Matters, a brief white paper that NCPC released in the run-up to the presidential election, argues that people's perceptions of crime?perhaps even more than reality?influence their behavior in ways that can have negative consequences for themselves, their families, their neighborhoods, and their communities. Leaders at all levels of government can counteract this phenomenon by helping their constituents understand the context of crime, their risk of victimization, and preventive measures they can take.

Well I can't say that I can remember a time when it was thought safe not to lock up, not because I'm not long in the tooth, but maybe I grew up in a different kind of community.

Must say things 'seemed' safer though. It seems these days you just can't be careful enough.

    Great lens, 5 stars.

hello! i found your lense on the friends group. Great post. I live in the country and up until a few years ago our doors were always unlocked so that friends could come and crash if thier home life was not good, our parents would tell friends to go over and wait till they got home as long as they made a pot of cofee, it was safe it no longer is. Times are tough and people are stretching to drastic measures theft is on the rise even here in the country. My husbands wallet was stolen from his truck the day after christmas right out of our own yard. Great stuff thanks for the lense!
