1-3 Year-Olds LOVE These Books
All 4 of my kiddos share a passion for books which has been cultivated from a very early age. Toddlers love "participatory" books, simple stories that they can memorize (they learn to anticipate what's coming next and it makes them proud), and BRIGHT colors with easily recognizable illustrations. Here are my top picks from our favorite authors which I know will be a huge hit with your children as well!
Open A Good Book
Fuzzy Yellow Ducklings
By Matthew Van Fleet
When my oldest daughter was young, my aunt gave her this book for Easter. It was my first introduction to these amazing books. They're so much fun with interactive pages, cute illustrations, and humor! Parents won't get bored with these either. For these reasons, books by Matthew Van Fleet are my #1 pick for excellent toddler books. Check them out, you won't be disappointed and neither will your little ones.

Shopping For Toddler Books
Some tips for parents:
-Board books are always a good choice because they are durable and easy for little hands just learning how to turn pages themselves. Today's board books aren't just a few pages of pictures either - many popular children's stories are available with full text and illustrations in this format.
-Introduce your child to new books by exploring ones by the same author of a current favorite.
-Toddlers LOVE to read the same story over and over and over again. This is a normal and healthy part of their development. So, make sure it's a book that you yourself won't mind reading over and over.
-Look for "companion" materials for their favorite books. Coloring books, stuffed toys, movies, and games are available often with characters that your kids already love and will help them expand their creativity and learning opportunities.

An Awesome Favorite of Ours
Eric Carle Books
These are classics for toddlers. Great illustrations and simple stories have stood the test of time and remain toddler favorites!
A Few More of Our Favorites
Let Them Be "Big Kids"
Tote bags are a great way for your toddlers to take their favorite books with them wherever they go! This age group really LOVES to put things in and out of bags too (I should know, my 3-year-old won't go anywhere without her little pink backpack filled with, shall we say, an interesting assortment of treasures in it).

- Oh, great picks, saraht43! We actually have a page all about Franklin! The Berenstain Bears were a favorite of my son's and my oldest liked Clifford (especially the TV version, we were so saddened by John Ritter's death). The Biscuit books, I have to say, were never very popular with my kiddos though. I think they enjoyed characters that were just a bit more colorful.
