Nail Fungus Treatment
A lot of people have toenail fungus and don't even know it until it is in an advanced stage. The fungus tends to grow in toenails more so than in fingernails, and many with thicker nails on their toes think that is the way toenails grow. In fact, having very thick toenails is one of the symptoms of nail fungus. If your nail also turned yellowish or brownish in color, you may have nail fungus.
Nail fungus can be a very stubborn condition and it takes a while to get rid of it. Even when you are treating it, it could take months for it to disappear. For people with obvious signs of fungus, this can be a disappointment. New medications on the market promise to work well to get rid of nail fungus, but the wait is still a long one.
One of the most recommended home remedies for treating toenail fungus is to soak your feet in a weak solution of water and vinegar. Another idea is to apply Vick's Vapor Rub to the affected toenail. After you take a bath or shower, make sure that you dry your toes completely. Use a hairdryer if necessary. By keeping your feet dry, you will prevent the fungus from thriving.
While there is no way to totally prevent getting nail fungus, you can make sure you keep your feet as clean and dry as possible. When using going barefoot in public pools or showers, make sure you wash your feet well when you are done.
If you try some of the natural remedies and still cannot get rid of the nail fungus, it would be a good idea to consult your doctor. You don't want the nail fungus to develop into a more serious condition.
