Make Your Toilet A Water Saver

The toilet is the biggest user of water in the household (it also wastes the most water). It is a good idea to use water-saving products within your toilet to decrease your use of water and lower your water bill.

If you can't afford a new water-saving toilet, you could invest in toilet tank water savers. Not only will they save you money, but you will be doing your part to reducing wasted water (helps the environment).

Toilet Water Displacement

A typical toilet requires 3.5 - 5.5 gallons of water per flush. Using a water displacement device, such as the Toilet Tummy, can help lower the amount of water you use for your toilet. The Toilet Tummy displaces 80 ounces of water (160 ounces if two are used).

The Toilet Tummy is easy to use. Just fill it with water and hang it on the inside of the toilet tank. You save water because the space occupied by the Toilet Tummy does not require filling with toilet water. This simple procedure will instantly make your toilet water-efficient.

Conserve Water With A Fill Cycle Diverter

By using a toilet tank fill cycle diverter, you can divert the majority of water that would normally flow down the toilet's overflow tube back into the toilet tank. This allows the toilet tank to fill faster.

Pictured is The Fill Master Fill Cycle Diverter, which saves 0.5 - 1.5 gallons per flush pending the number of diverter nozzles sticking out of the overflow tube.

You save water because the quicker the toilet tank fills, the sooner it will shut off. The problem with most traditional toilets is that the bowl fills faster than the toilet tank, which wastes unnecessary water to fill the bowl that could be better used for filling the tank. A fill cycle diverter fixes that problem.

The Fill Master Fill Cycle Diverter is installed at the end of the overflow tube's hose and then the diverter clips on top of the overflow tube (see picture below - picture used with permission).

Check For A Leaky Toilet

One last tip to make your toilet more eco-friendly. Use food coloring or a dye tablet to put into the toilet tank to check for a leaky toilet. If you see colored water in the bowl, you have a worn out flapper.

A leaky toilet can waste several gallons of water a day. Fix a leaky toilet by replacing your old and worn out flapper. It only takes a few seconds, a few dollars and you will save a lot of water.

Green Eco Tip of the Day

Maximum Toilet Water Conservation

The Toilet Tummy and The Fill Master Fill Cycle Diverter can be used together for maximum water savings. You may need to adjust the number of diverter nozzles that stick out of the toilet's overflow tube to get the right balance of water-efficiency. The use of these devices conserves water and will lower your water bill saving you money. Those savings continue every month you use these water-savers. The use of these water-conserving devices will also help the environment by reducing water waste.

Another Water Saver tip For Toilets

Instead of using eco devices to save toilet water, you could buy a new low-flow toilet. Low-flow toilets now use 1.6 gallons of water or less.
