The Four Agreements - Don's most famous work
The truth is that The Four Agreements was given to me by a friend, who told me it was so good and easy to change your life with 4 agreements, or steps. I thought that would be easy enough, but I realized that I had not be being impeccable with what I was saying to myself about somethings. First, I had to get real honest about what I believed, valued, and what works; and change mind mind about about what I was saying to me. We can't be impeccable with our word to others, if we can't be impeccable with our word to ourselves.
You know what? The guy who gave me the book, couldn't live by the Four Agreements. Then, years later another guy gave me a copy of the same book for Christmas one year as a gift. It didn't take me long to figure out that he wasn't impeccable with what he was saying either. I'm happy I have read the book, work through things and improved my own life. Basically, if you get the 1st agreement, the others fall into place.
Don Miguel Ángel Ruiz (born 1952) is a Mexican author, nagual, shaman, and teacher. He was a surgeon until a near-death experience impelled him to seek answers in ancestral traditions of the Toltec in which his mother was a curandera (healer), and his grandfather a nagual (shaman) who, after death, continued to teach Ruiz in his dreams.
His most famous and influential work, The Four Agreements, was published in 1997 and has sold around 4 million copies. - Ultimately, it is about finding one's own integrity, self-love, and peace within this reality.

don Miguel Ruiz was born into a family of healers and raised in rural Mexico by a curandera (healer) mother and nagual (shaman) grandfather. The family believed don Miguel would embrace their centuries old legacy of healing and teaching and become a nagual, and then carry forward the esoteric Toltec knowledge. However, don Miguel chose to attend medical school and later teach and practice as a surgeon. and he began teaching in the United States, with his mother, the Curandera, Sarita in 1987. He taught small groups of people in a small room in Logan Heights, CA. Working with Sarita, he first began with healing practices. As his knowledge of English grew, he realized that he preferred to share his lineage through oral tradition, rather than a healing tradition. don Miguel's students grew in numbers and his mythologies and guidance grew with them. He appeared in lectures in Santa Fe, NM, Los Angeles, CA, Sacramento, CA, Santa Rosa, CA and in many other locales. The tools shared by don Miguel are based on common sense, that the universal message underlying his teaching is recognized by many as messages that are simple, practical for everyday life, and when practiced, even a little at a time, changes lives.
