First Information About The TomTom Go 930

The TomTom Go 930 is a high end GPS system that offers many great features. It offers voice recognition for the entering of addresses, advanced lane guidance to assist with navigating complex interchanges, text to voice that audibly gives the street names for turns and directions, intelligent routing that uses traffic data to plan the fastest route, and a 4.3" wide screen display. In addition, it features multi-media technology allowing you to connect your MP3 player and control it through either the touch screen or the remote. It comes pre-loaded with maps of the US, Canada and Central and Western Europe. The TomTom Go 930 also features the TomTom Home interface allowing you ease of updating maps and POIs by connecting your unit to your computer.

On the bad side, the voice recognition feature needs some work. While it recognizes voice input for addresses, it sometimes drops numbers. The advanced lane guidance is currently only available for certain major highways.

Overall the TomTom Go 930 is a very good GPS system and perfect for the user that wants the ability to customize the interface and display.

Now For The Garmin Nuvi 765T

The Garmin Nuvi 765T is a great GPS system for someone that wants a simple interface and does not desire a lot of customization. The Garmin unit has Bluetooth interface, visual lane guidance, text to voice audible directions, fast acquisition and re-routing, pre-loaded POIs, and free traffic reporting (although in this case, free means ad-supported). The Garmin Nuvi 765T will give you up to the minute traffic delays and show them on the screen. If it can, it will automatically re-route you to avoid the traffic delays, if not, it will give you information on the type of delay and expected wait time.

The bad points are that in order to get the free traffic feature, the Garmin Nuvi 765T must be plugged into the power cable via the docking unit, which makes car to car portability more difficult. In addition, the maps are only updated annually and addresses must be entered via the touchscreen. If what you are looking for is a device that will give you good routing from point A to point B with a simple interface, and don't desire a lot of customization, then the Garmin Nuvi 765T is the one for you.
