Tone Flabby Arms - Are You Too Embarrassed To Go Sleeveless?

Are you concerned about your flabby, saggy or jiggly upper arms? Are you too embarrassed to go sleeveless when the sun is out? Well, this is what happened to me until I started to look at ways to get not only tone my arms, but my whole body without the expense of costly gym memberships, equipment and starvation diets.

What I found was that in just three easy steps I could start the process of toning my flabby arms and body easily and effectively. I want to share with you how I started going about it and how you too can have those beautifully sculpted and defined arms you've always dreamed of.

Nothing in life comes easily, especially a beautifully toned body, but if you put the work in you'll see the results. I'm not there yet, but I'm working on it.

Tone Flabby Arms - Step One

Burn Fat In Order To Tone Flabby Muscles

If you want to tone your flabby arms then you need to burn fat. It is really quite simple, you need to burn more calories than you take in. If you eat more calories than your use up, then these additional calories will be stored as fat. So, in order to prevent building up body fat, you either need to decrease your calorie intake or increase your activity levels.

Activities like aerobics, cycling, swimming and power walking are all great for burning up calories or simply move more. Get up off that sofa and get active. The key here is not to starve yourself - too few calories can slow down your metabolism - but to eat healthily and get more active.

A great tip is to get skipping - it's cheap and easy. A hard skip for a few minutes at a time really gets up a sweat. Do this as often as you can. Other great exercises that can be done at home and for free are squats and lunges. Try doing as many squats and lunges as you can with your hands behind your head - your body will really feel it and appreciate it.

If, like me, you really don't like gyms then think about exercising outdoors. I go to a Boot Camp at the local park a couple of times a week and my goodness have I seen some results. Boot Camp sounds like hell, and it is, but if you want results!!!!

Tone Flabby Arms - Step Two

Start A Strength Training Program In Order To Build Muscle

Rather than spending long hours trying to burn fat with exercises like aerobics or cycling, it would be better to spend more time on a strength training program. The problem is that aerobics and cycling are great for losing body fat, but do not build and strengthen muscles. If you want to tone, define and sculpt your flabby, saggy or jiggly arms then you must start a strength training program.

A common myth about exercise is that more is better. This is not true and working out for more than an hour can start to have a negative effect on the body. This is because over-exercise can cause injury and increased stress on the body, making you feel exhausted, anxious and lethargic.

The solution is to keep your workouts short and sweet. The absolute maximum time you need is 1 hour, but actually working hard for only 20 minutes is just as effective. Try and get a sweat going within the first 5 minutes and keep your intensity high for the whole 20 minutes. Everyone can fit in 20 minutes of hard exercise a few times a week.

Tone Flabby Arms - Step Three

Raise Your Metabolism Naturally

You can tone and define your arms by losing body fat and building muscle, but if you don't raise your metabolic rate, it will be an almost impossible task trying to maintain them. It is crucial that you increase your metabolism if you want to keep your arms toned without starving yourself, or spending hours in the gym each day.

Unfortunately, even the small increase in body fat will show up on your arms.

In order to raise your metabolism, you need to keep yourself active and moving during the day through activities like power walking and aerobic exercises together with a strength training program. Do not starve yourself as this will decrease your metabolic rate. Make sure that you eating small healthy meals often and regularly which will keep your metabolism raised for longer.

Tone Flabby Arms - Putting It All Together

If you want to tone your flabby arms then it is important that you start a program that will burn fat, build muscle, and raise your metabolism all at the same time; whilst paying specific attention to your arms in order to tone, define and sculpt them.

There is no reason to put the rest of your body on hold while you work on creating a pair of beautifully toned arms, you can also be working on other problem areas such as a flabby belly, love handles or a drooping butt. Sometimes it's difficult to know where to start, but you have lots of options. You can join a gym and get given a program or get a personal trainer, but these both cost money. Another option is one that I personally like is to join a Boot Camp group which not only is a great workout but you have other people motivating you.

If these options are not really for you and you'd rather work out at home you can follow DVD's or books specific to toning. There are so many exercise programs on the market that its difficult to know which one to go for. I recommend that you take a look at my recommendations below.

The whole idea of toning arms and other body parts is to get rid of the horrible fat and flab increase muscle tone. Unless you're entering a Miss Bodybuilding contest, it's extremely difficult for women to build too much muscle. If you find that your weights are too light then by all means increase the weight. You won't get big bulging biceps, but nicely toned arms.
