Lose Weight with Tong Ren Healing Therapy

Would you like to lose weight without buying any special foods, expensive supplements, count calories or any of the other diet routines that you may read about or see on television?

There is a way. That way is through using Tong Ren Therapy, a method of healing created by Tom Tam, which is gaining popularity around the world,

My first lens (http://www.squidoo.com/tongrenhealing) gave an overview of healing with Tong Ren. In this lens, I'd like to tell you how people are using Tong Ren Therapy to lose weight and overcome cravings.

Research has shown that maintaining an average weight -- actually, being underweight -- results in a longer life span. Tong Ren is probably the fastest and least stressful way in the world to lose weight because it helps to eliminate cravings and calms the mind. Pi Gu, a Chinese practice that is discussed later, can also assist in the weight loss process.

Tong Ren Therapy alone will help you lose weight, but together with Pi Gu, you will have even greater success. This therapy will help to eliminate cravings (for me it was kettle-cooked potato chips and cheese). Pi Gu is based on chi gong and leads to mindful eating -- you'll only eat when you're hungry-- no cravings -- or late night trips to the kitchen for a snack.

The best thing about Tong Ren is that you don't have to do anything except relax and feel the chi -- whether you listen on the internet or find a Tong Ren practitioner to work with. (You probably know this: chi or qi is Chinese and basically means "life force.") If you fall in love with Tong Ren as I have, you'll probably want to learn to tap for yourself, family and friends.

I sincerely hope that anyone who wants to lose weight and improve their health will find this lens greatly beneficial.

“Tong Ren works on eradicating both cravings and addictions”

Who is Tom Tam? What is Tong Ren?

Tom Tam is a licensed acupuncturist in Massachusetts, a healer, author, poet, and an incredibly warm and caring human being. Born in Tai Shan, China, he came to the United States in 1975 as a political refugee. Since 1982, he has been practicing acupuncture, Tai Chi, and Chi Gong healing with great success. In 1984 Tom trained students in acupuncture and Tui Na in the Boston area and in the mid-1990s, Tom created the Tong Ren Healing System. His method combined Western medicine and traditional Eastern medical knowledge and practice to form a new theory for the understanding and healing of difficult diseases such as cancer, MS and arthritis..

For the last 25 years, Tom has been one of the foremost students of Master Gin Soon Chu, the fifth generation master of traditional Yang family Tai Chi Chuan, who is the descendant of Grandmaster Yang Shou Chong. Tom has taught Tai Chi Chuan for more than 20 years in the greater Boston area, and many of his Tai Chi students are teaching Tai Chi Chuan in America.

In 1994, Tom led a group of students mainland China and Taiwan in order to share his Tong Ren healing method. In Guang Zhou Tradition Chinese Medical College, he demonstrated Tong Ren healing for weight loss, followed by a trip to Taipei to demonstrate Tong Ren's benefit in healing leukemia.

In 2001, the first Guinea Pig class was formed for treating cancer in Quincy, Massachusetts. Now the Guinea Pig class for healing has spread to many countries around the world.Tom continues to practice, teach students, and travel the world to share his dreams.

Tong Ren, the healing system that Tom created, uses a Western diagnosis of a medical problem and traditional Chinese medicine based on acupuncture points, to remove what Tom describes as blockages in the body. Removal of these blockages includes acupuncture. However, the method that Tom found to be most effective is the use of an acupuncture doll and a magnetic hammer--when the Tong Ren practitioner taps on the doll at acupuncture points where the blockage has occurred, the symptoms of the individual's problems are relieved.

The classes are called Guinea Pig classes because it is a Chinese belief that one should not change the name of something that is working successfully. So, after people were cured through the use of Tong Ren in 2001, the name Guinea Pig was set in stone.

For example, to take a common problem -- sinusitis, you would consult the Tong Ren manual and would then tap on the following acupuncture points that are marked on the doll: C3, C4,T1, T2, T3, SI16, LI4, and the Ouch Point (where it hurts). C stands for Cervical and is located on the back of the neck; T stands for Thoracic and the points correspond to the spinal vertebrae. LI is large intestine and SI is small intestine -- these acupuncture points are located on the side of the face and are the Small Intestine and Large Intestine Meridians.

The book "A Lazy Bum's Healing" gives the protocol -- tapping points for a variety of conditions and diseases including tennis elbow, stomach ulcers, sore throat, migraines, tinnitus, anxiety, yeast infection, various cancers, acne, Alzheimer's Disease, anemia, bladder phobias, lung problems, lower back pain, morning sickness and many, many others.

The length of time you would tap varies -- generally, I find 10 minutes of tapping to be effective, but a practitioner would probably tap for a longer length of time.

You can expect many different sensations -- including heat, tingling, odd body sensations, feeling as though your blood is pumping through body -- or you may just feel relaxed or go to sleep. In fact, you may experience noithing at all during the session only to realize the effect later.

Tapping for Weight Loss

Tong Ren therapy is performed using an acupuncture doll and a magnetic hammer after one has received a medical diagnosis such as Lyme disease, obesity, MLS, cancer, or for common complaints, such as headache, plantar fascitis, insomnia or the common cold. There are Tong Ren broadcasts on the internet and practitioners who focus on weight loss and addictions.

Using the diagnosis, Tom has established the blockage points and provided the locations for each disease/symptom.

For weight loss, the acupuncture points on the doll are T7, ST 21, C2Rt, GB13Rt, GV22, Yi-ming, TW 17, and LI18. There are other points one might tap as well. T = thoracic; ST = stomach; C=Cervical; GB=Gall Bladder; GV=Governing Vessel; TW=Triple Warmer (belly area); LI=Large Intestine. Yiming is a point located at the back of the head which is also stimulated for sleep issues such as insomnia, dream-disturbed sleep, eye disorders and tinnitus.

Using the acupuncture doll and hammer, one then taps the designated points on the doll. The tapping on the Live Broadcasts are generally very short, but if you can tap for yourself or have a friend or practitioner tap for you, it is much more relaxing. You may feel a number of effects as a result of the tapping, such as pinpricks on your skin, tingiing, heat, relaxation, pulling, blood flowing more vigorously or you may feel nothing until much later. I have experienced all of these sensations as well as a feeling of heat traveling along my spinal column.

Complete information is given in "Tong Ren Healing" by Tom Tam. "A Lazy Bum's Healing -- Tong Ren Therapy Cross Reference" is a useful book to own but not absolutely necessary.

Tong Ren in the News

(The FDA does not like any one to call themselves a master, however, without acknowledging that the term "master" in this case refers to Tom's standing in the world of tai chuan and chi gong.)

Naturally, there's no time to cover finer points in the news videos, for example, concepts underlying energy medicine, including the morphogenetic field, as well as other new ideas about healing that are emerging- such as the biology of belief, intent and new German Medicine http://www.germannewmedicine.ca/documents/welcome.html.

Fidele is a lot slimmer now then when this video was made-- you can see him on the Tong Ren broadcast. I met him at Quincy -- he's a very compassionate guy. At ten minutes, the video may be a little long, but so worth listening to that I hope you'll take the time!

I like his commitment because it expresses my sentiments -- I just want to help people and hope to become a practitioner soon.

Tong Ren Testimonials

Tong Ren World
A link to testimonials about Tong Ren. Please note: Please note: None of these are about weight loss. i have heard many testimonies about weight loss on the Guinea Pig Broadcasts. In October 2008 at a Tong Ren workshop given by Kee Yan, Tom Tam's nephew in New York, Kee told us about his 40 pound weight loss over a period of a month. (Kee told us had gained the weight while visiting his family in China where he couldn't refuse any food for fear of offending.)

Tong Ren has helped me greatly with food cravings as well as fibromyalgia and other problems, including anxiety.

As I uncover other testimonials similar to Fidele's story in the video link, I'll post them. Please sign the Guestbook and let me know if you have success using Tong Ren.

Nurture Yourself - Nurture Others

Sometimes we use food as a distraction, or for emotional reasons because it is comforting. Often it can help to focus outwards and nurture others, and this can lessen emotional pain. Helping someone else helps us. Equally important is taking the time to nurture one's self. Some people like to pamper themselves with long soaking baths, others with meditation and spending time on crafts and hobbies. But we all know, shopping, alcohol and eating are not healthy or satisfying distractions.

Tong Ren Therapy Tools

One of Tom's favorite sayings is "We May Be Crazy, But We're Not Stupid!" Indeed not, since Tong Ren does work!

Tom, while tapping for people in the Guinea Pig classes, often jokingly refers to tapping the doll as "voodoo." And, some people do think that Tong Ren has a voodoo-like quality. However, as more people become enlightened about new discoveries in quantum physics, intention and how our beliefs affect our biology, of energy healing will gain acceptance. In"Speaking the Lost Language of God," Gregg Braden talks of the medicine-less hospitals that employ chi gong masters who basically do the work of surgeons.

The tools needed to practice Tong Ren are shown in the picture: acupuncture doll, magnetic hammer and "Tom Tam Healing System" (cost: about $75).
