Who is Tool?
Tool is an American rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1990. Since their inception, the band's line-up has included drummer Danny Carey, guitarist Adam Jones, and vocalist Maynard James Keenan. Their current bassist is Justin Chancellor, that has been included in the band since 1995, who replaced their original bassist Paul D'Amour. Tool is known to have rigorous touring schedules in support of their albums, they have performed well on charts worldwide, and have sold an estimated 9.25 million records in the United States alone.

Essential Listening
Don't bother trying iTunes, they aren't on there. Besides the packaging makes it worth your time to get the CD.
That being said, the best starting point if you've never listened to any Tool songs is probably Undertow, their first full length. The songs are shorter and easier to digest. If you like that I would continue chronologically up to 10,000 Days, which was released May 2nd 2006. However, if you like what you hear and are interested in seeing them live, don't take too long as they have been averaging five years between recordings and tours, so if you want to see them live, you had better catch them while you can.
