Argh!! The struggle to fit a fat toothbrush into a small hole ...
Handles have gotten fatter in an attempt to make it easier, more ergonomic, more stylish, more expensive to get our teeth clean. And that's just with manual toothbrushes! But while the toothbrush has gotten more stylish (and colorful!), holders that can handle the handle are tough to find.
I just completed a remodel of my own bathroom and have been on the hunt for a new toothbrush holder that will match my chrome fixtures and hold my fat toothbrush as well as my rather slender flosser. Check out some of the great ones I found below!!
Criteria for Selection
1. Hold 2-4 items
2. Fit a fat toothbrush
3. Hold onto slim items
4. Be open to the air at the bottom (preferably no collection area, but at least open)
5. Be stylish! This means no cheesy themed holders!!
Shouldn't be too hard to find that, should it? Should it? I actually wasn't sure I'd get to 10!! The biggest challenge was finding ones that were open at the bottom, which surprised me. Second challenge was fitting the toothbrush, third the size of the holes.

Who's to Blame?
So, in the last 20 years, toothbrush design has become the big thing and suddenly we have oodles of $6 manual toothbrushes with fat handles that don't fit in toothbrush holders. Should the toothbrush people have been working with the size of the holes or should the holder people have been keeping up with the changes in toothbrush design?

Really don't like the suction cup thing, but this model is meant for the shower rather than sink. But the clips are pretty sweet looking.

- the classic brushed metal tb holder that if you could get it in chrome, it would be "golden...." forget it. I have this one and it is going to donation. won't fit all fatter designs and the bottoms of the tb are always falling off the base.....it sucks!!!!

- wide toothbrushes is one problem, kids toothbrushes are even worse. the only one of this list of holders that works for us is Contemporary Home Polka-Dot Toothbrush Holder - Pink. and our bathroom is brass and wood. so we have a very nice function over form decor going now. i cannot for the life of me find the manufacturer of it to see/suggest they make more combinations on the same functional approach. this design is in quadrants, which means ANYTHING can fit in there, even kids power toothbrushes.
