Halo 3 may be the best multiplayer shooter of all time. If you don't own this game you are living in the stone age. I have dropped hundreds of hours into this badboy and its still fun to play. Thanks to Xbox Live and online play, it never gets old. I can still come back to it at any time and it's as fun as ever. This one is a no-brainer. If you don't have it, get it!

#2 - Gears of War 2
The new kid on the block

I used to think Gears of War couldn't get any cooler, then Gears of War 2 comes out. This is one of the best multiplayer games I've ever played and is my current favorite game overall. It's really a toss up between Halo 3 and Gears 2. Even without Xbox Live this game is still a blast with 2 players. The cover system is even better than the original, which is hard to top. Also, the multiplayer horde mode might be the funnest thing ever. If you don't have this game yet, get it!

#3 - Left4Dead
The unconventional multiplayer shooter

This is probably a suprise on the list, but being a Valve game, I had to add it. The graphics are amazing, the AI is some of the best I've ever seen, and the team play just makes the game. If you like zombie shooters you will go absolutely nuts over this game. You don't need to play on Live either if you have 4 players and a large enough TV. For the rest of us its hours of multiplayer zombie scenario action! I love this game!

#4 - Call of Duty: World at War
A new classic war shooter
Call of Duty: World at War
Ok, so a lot of people would probably put this in the top 3. Well too bad, this is MY list. I've never been a big fan of the Call of Duty games but this one is pretty good. It's very realistic and the online play makes it playable over and over. Great graphics too. If you like realistic style war games then this is as good as it gets.

#5 - Unreal Tournament III
Unreal Tournament III
Some may disagree here, but this is an extremely fun game once you get into it. It's basically online only, so if you don't have Live, then don't bother. If you like multiplayer shooters, then add this game to your arsenal. Extreme fast gameplay, futuristic violence, vehicles galore... what's not to love? The price is right and its great for a quick pickup game. This game is extremely underrated in my opinion.
