Their job is to show us just how much electricity we waste in our homes, as well as show us how, where and when we can all save money.

An electricity monitorreveals exactly how much electricity is being used, how the cost of electricity per hour changes (during peek times and non peek hours) and how much harmful CO2 your home is emitting.

#7. Give the gift of plants!

a tree...a seed starter kit...a plant!

There's an old saying that goes..."Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."

With this in mind, why not give the gift of seeds...plants...vegetables...food!

This year our family built a vegetable garden. Our children expressed an interest in starting seeds...so we chose to grow some lettuce, green onions, carrots, radishes, corn, peas and beans.

We are also going to plant flowers (from seed), tomato plants, sunflowers and herbs.

Teaching our children that we can grow all this produce ourselves is a great gift!

Nice! I love your ideas. Everyone can do its part to help mother earth. Imagine if people just start using the 2 first idea you posted: Canvas Tote Bag and Stainless Steel Drinking Bottle! Only this could have a huge impact! And this is not difficult to do, does not require a big budget.

This is a great lens! How innovative! Solar chargers? I had no idea!

I love my composter - try it out! And if you're an apartment dweller they make them that fit under the kitchen sink with no stink!

I adore the trash art! It reminds me of a scene from "The Fisher King" Robin Williams is on a date and pulls something out of the trash. It's the top of an old champagne bottle. He sculpts it into what looks like a beautiful chair. he says "you never know what you might find in the trash" of course there's great symbolism going on, having to do what beauty we have thrown away in what Jung calls the "shadow' - but I'll leave that alone for now :)

I'm all for anything that we can use that is solar-powered. When we vacationed in Southern Spain recently, I was totally amazed to see all the windmills -- that was my first time up close and personal.
