When thinking about the top gangster movies you can't help but be reminded of some of the great performances and interesting characters these type of movies typically portray. Furthmore, it goes without saying that no good gangster movie is complete without the mind of a great film maker to bring the character together, and tell a unique and entertaining story.

Top Gangster Movies - My Favorite Gangster Actors
Most of the all time top gangster movies involve those few actors that have mastered the role of playing a gangster. When choosing my list of favorite actors I have used a combination of your typical gangster actors, and also included performances from actors that that I think played their part well.. ..1) Robert DeNiro (just about all his roles)
2) Al Pacino (again another actor who always puts on a good performance)
3) Marlon Brando (Godfather)
4) Joe Pesci (Goodfellas, Casino and Raging Bull)
5) Christopher Walken (Just about every gangster role he has played)
6) Ray Liotto (Goodfellas)
7) Daniel Day Lewis (Gangs Of New York)
8) Samuel L Jackson (Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown)
9) Ben Kingsley (Sexy Beast)
10) Denzel Washington (American Gangster)

The great film makers of all the good gangster movies have an ability to tell captivating story and bring the characters into the movie. While there have been a great number of gangster movies made by brillant directors, I have decided to choose those ones that have made at least 3 gangster movies.1) Martin Scorsese - Goodfellas, Casino, Mean Streets

When choosing a list of my 10 top gangster movies of all time I used a combination of good acting, flamboyant and memorable characters, and a movie that has been put together by some great film making. - Godfather without a doubt, with Goodfellas (a great book too) a close second. A good winter Sunday activity is Godfather I and II in chronological order. Great stuff. Thanks for the lens!

- Great lens again, I'd like to add two more great gangster films Firstly "Heat" Directed by Michael Mann and sees Al Pacino go up against Robert Deniro simply brilliant film and also Bruce Willis in last Man Standing another simply amazing film. Those are my two Favourites!
