What to Look For When Buying a New Laptop
What specs, features and options do you really need?
Shopping for a new laptop can be somewhat confusing with so many models, operating systems, options available and should I go with a PC or a Mac? One way to logically determine your own best choice is to carefully determine your needs based on the tasks you anticipate you will use your laptop for on a regular basis.
Many potential buyers are swayed by recommendations and comments from friends and associates whose computer needs might be completely different from their own. If you are a typical home user who in all likelihood will be checking email, web browsing, listening to music and maybe watching videos online you'll probably be fine with a mainstream unit from any of the reputable manufacturers and should look for a minimum of 500 GB storage, approximately 2 to 4 gigs of RAM, a 14-17 inch display depending on how often you intend to travel with your laptop. A DVD burner is an option that most will appreciate as well.
