Eric Northman is a 1000 year old Viking vampire and Sookie is a telepathic barmaid from Bon Temps Louisiana. Eric is the Sheriff of area nine according to vampire politics and Sookie is the human girlfriend of his one his vampire suboordinates. From the moment he meets her though, Eric wants something more and Sookie wonders if there IS anything more to Eric other than his cold outer shell.

Eric tricks Sookie into a blood bond, opening up the door for a romance to blossom. Midway through the book series Sookie finds Eric running half naked through the woods near her house and he has amnesia. Unlike the old Eric who is arrogant and aloof the new Eric is soft and sweet and Sookie cannot resist him. They begin a short but hot romance that lasts until Eric gets his memory back. For awhile he does not remember the tryst with Sookie but the blood they shared between them during that time has bonded them even further and Eric cannot help but notice he has a very soft spot for Sookie and always has. Sookie is still weak in the knees for Eric too, especially when he greets her by saying "Hello my lover."

In book nine of the series Sookie and Eric can no longer deny that they have a strong attachment and their romance begins anew. Eric even asks Sookie to leave Bon Temps and move in with him, which he has never done in his centuries as a vampire. But an old flame may be ready to ignite between Sookie and Bill again. Which vampire can claim Sookie's heart?

Buffy and Spike are one of the absolute sexiest vampire/human couples ever to hit the screen. What made their relationship so spectacular on Buffy The Vampire Slayer is that they were enemies for many seasons before they became lovers. Spike was a vampire bent on his next thrill, which was to kill the slayer. He had already managed to kill two in years past and Buffy was next on his list. But he could never seem to get the better of her. After a secret government agency put a computer chip in his head that prevented him from hurting humans without extraordinary pain, he found himself unable to hunt and his will to live almost died out. But he soon found that assisting Buffy in her slayer duties enabled him to hunt down demons and other vampires. Buffy found him to be an annoyance in the beginning but soon saw advantages in having a super human sidekick.

To his great dismay Spike discovered that all their adventures together caused him to fall in love with her and yet she still loathed him as a soulless monster. Eventually after Buffy dies and Spike is crushed, Buffy's best friend (a witch) finds a way to resurrect her and Buffy is pulled from heaven back into her personal hell of fighting vampires and demons once again. The only person she can confide in is Spike and they eventually begin a hot and steamy relationship that quite frequently results in property damage.

What began as torrid and ill advised becomes one of the most amazing love stories of all time as Spike seeks to redeem himself by getting his soul back so he can deserve her and Buffy realizes that the man who she very often called a monster is her greatest champion.

If hot, steamy, and incredibly sexy is what you are looking for in a romance and you love vampires the way I do, then check out the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series. It is amazing in its entirety but for Buffy and Spike fans, seasons 5-7 are the most critical.

Is it weird to follow Buffy and Spike with Buffy and Angel? Not if you are a fan of the series! Long before there was a Buffy and Spike there was Angel.

Angel is Buffy's first love and he is also a vampire although unlike most vampires he has a soul. His soul was actually returned to him by a gypsy curse so that he would live out his life in suffering knowing how many lives he took. He spent many years wandering aimlessly in a deep depression until he was guided to Buffy to assist her as the Slayer and help her fight evil. Buffy begins to develop a crush on Angel before she even knows he is vampire and soon it doesn't matter.

Angel becomes her partner in fighting evil, her first love, and her first lover. What makes their relationship so exciting is that they have great obstacles to overcome including the day when Angel once again loses his soul and begins to kill her friends. Buffy has to do the unimaginable when she kills Angel and pushes him through a hell gate! But love does conquer death and Angel returns. He and Buffy reunite for a short time before they decide that their love is too dangerous, as any true happiness felt by Angel reverses the gypsy curse. It is a beautiful love story although a far bit tamer than Buffy and Spike. Geez Louise Buffy is a lucky gal!

Bill Compton and Sookie Stackhouse began their romance throughout the pages of the Sookie Stackhouse books written by Charlaine Harris and it continues on-screen through True Blood on HBO.

Sookie is a barmaid in Bon Temps, Louisiana and Bill is a vampire who comes in for a bottle of True Blood. You see vampires have come out of the coffin and told the world of their existence now that they can survive on synthetic blood manufactured in Japan. On the night Sookie meets Bill (her first vamp) he is accosted outside by vampire drainers who want to drain his blood and sell it as a drug. Sookie hears their plans because she can read minds and she manages to save Bill's life. Bill has to return the favor after Sookie is attacked and nearly killed for her trouble and Bill cures her with his blood. They begin a passionate yet troubled romance as Sookie's special gift does not go unnoticed by other vampires who want her for their own uses. Bill has a dark secret he is hiding as well. One thing is for sure, Sookie's life is never the same!

Of course we know all about Lestat from the Ann Rice novels that started with Interview with a Vampire. In the movie adaptation of Queen of the Damned Lestat begins a flirtation with a human girl named Jesse. Jesse is a Talamascan, which is a watcher or investigator of the paranormal. Her mentor gives her the private journals of Lestat and as she reads them she falls in love with the vampire Lestat and begins trying to find him.

Lestat is fascinated by this human who places herself in danger recklessly to be able to meet him and he marvels at her ability to see the man he used to be in the monster he is now. When Lestat, who is now a rock n' roll icon, awakens the Queen of all vampires Akasha, with his music, she abducts him to be her consort. Jesse and her new found vampire friends and family race to save Lestat and the world as we know it. Under orders from Akasha he drains Jesse but leaves her barely alive so that he can turn her after he kills Akasha. They walk hand in hand into the night, immortal companions.

While the movie did not get rave reviews I actually liked it, mostly because of the Lestat and Jesse romantic angle.

Another awesome thing about the Roswell series was Michael and Maria. Michael is an alien just like Max and is Max's best friend. Whereas Max is the healer, Michael is the fighter. Michael was not adopted by a human family and instead found himself in an abusive foster home. Unlike Max, Michael wants to find out where they came from and how to get back to their own planet.

Their relationship is based on mutual annoyance at first. But Michael quickly discovers that the quirky Maria is passionate and loyal as well. When Michael steals her car with her in it she decides not to turn him in to the police and instead tries to help Michael find out where he comes from. Maria seems to understand him when no one else does. Michael soon realizes that he has been home all along... Maria is his home.

The series has MANY touching moments between this rocky but highly entertaining couple.
