Of Saber Marionette I have seen J, J Again and X to J. The story begins with the typical male character who is not particularly anybody. His name is Mamiya Otaru.

Mamiya Otaru becomes the luckiest or unluckiest man on all of Japones, a planet completely uninhabited by women. Through his daily routines he awakens three marionettes (robots), who are all mysteriously attached to him.

Lime is the first marionette Otaru awakens. She has a child like energetic personality much like she's on a constant sugar high.

Cherry is the second marionette Otaru awakens. She is a very stereotypical housewife type, preferring to cook and clean.

Bloodberry is the third marionette Otaru awakens. She is the busty, sexy anime female type. Always trying to seduce Otaru.

The story centers around Otaru and his mysterious marionettes with their unusual ability to express emotions. This anime is a harem type anime but is slightly different in the sense of the character's personalities. It is not like a typical anime of that sort because there is an underlying plot line and the male character thinks of his marionettes as family.

Kare Kano ranks in the top 10 for being the cutest romance anime I have seen. This Shojo anime takes place in a Japanese High School. Our main character, Yukino Miyazawa, is a very talented girl. She is top of her class in everything from academics to athletics but not naturally. Yukino's only goal is to enjoy the admiration of her peers under her mask of being a model student. Evil, yes she definitely has that evil side.

Then comes Soichiro Arima, an equally good looking and talented young boy. Yukino's whole existance is threatened by his arrival.

Through friendly or not so friendly competition, they eventually fall in love and so the story goes.

Ghost in the Shell is a Matrix type anime. A futuristic world in which people and machine are combined to for bio-mechanical bodies.
Our main character is a female commonly referred to as "Major" is on such woman who has been mechanically enhanced. She is part of special police division that allows us to take a look into the world of robots and humans being enhanced with technology.

The animation is very well done for the 1st movie and is a must see for any anime fan. There are also a few accompanying anime series for those that grow attached this topic.

The main character, Hitomi Kanzaki, is just your average high school girl. An athlete, with a secret crush on a guy, just trying to become an even better sprinter.

That all changed the moment on a high school track that a mysterious man from another world appeared in armor, wielding a sword. Shortly after him came the vicious fire breathing beast. Running for her life her and Hitomi and her friends take cover as the battle rages.

The mysterious man emerges victorious from his battle. As Hitomi goes to confront him they are both swept up but a mysterious beam of light.

Hitomi is transported to this man's land called Gaea. A land where the Earth hangs in the sky as a mysterious blue moon. Her only goal now is to get home as she encounters many adventures along the way.

Full Metal Alchemist also called FMA is one series that became popular fast. With 51 Episodes and one movie, it gets you addicted right from the start. Two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric live in a world where alchemy is possible. Nothing can be created without an equivalent trade. It is all very scientific based.

The day their mother dies is the day their life changes. Taking alchemy into their own hands, they attempt to bring their mother back. A terrible taboo to raise the dead costs Alphonse his body and Edward an arm and leg. They set out on journey to reclaim what they lost and are caught up in something much bigger.

What really happens when you try to raise the dead and is it even possible in the first place?

Death Note is another anime the gained popularity fast. The main character Light stumbles across a note book one day at school. This mysterious notebook has rules written in it that claim that if you write a person's name in the book, and know what they look like, they will die. It goes into detail of how they will die and when.

Light, a practical and very intelligent, high school boy, doesn't believe it at first but decides to test it out on whim... his victims were petty criminals that soon revealed the truth in the death note. A death god, Ryuk, visits him after realizing he lost his death note and explains to Light that it is his Death Note now and that he may do what he wishes with it. Light realizes that this is his chance to rid the world of evil and begins to start religiously writing criminal's names in the book.

That was all well until a mysterious man named "L" made his presence known anonymously on television. L planned to track the source of these deaths down and stop them.

This anime is full of suspense and twists as two very intelligent characters go head to head to see who can catch who first.

Elfen Lied centers around a young girl with a mysterious 'mutation'. She possesses invisible arms that stretch out from her and can move at high speed and possess super-human strength. While this may not sound interesting at first glance it is the plot that makes this interesting.

Nyu is a diclonious with a split personality, possibly due to memory loss. Part of her is an innocent girl while the other half seeks revenge. Revenge against the humans which fear this mysterious ability and study, confine, and experiment on them.

The series enters into what exactly humanity is as well as what happens psychologically with children when they are rejected and feared, such as Nyu, because of being different.

Cowboy Bebop ranks in at one of the top three as a space cowboy sort of anime. Spike (the man in blue) is a space cowboy who hunts various bounties through out the galaxy as a living. He does this with his partner Jet until they begin picking up more ship mates.

This is an exciting anime packed with action and very fluid animated fight scenes even though the characters always seem to end up broke.

Trigun ranks in at number 2 as an anime with cowboy style gun fighting. The human race is stuck on sad planet that for the most part is hell to live on. Vash the Stampede is a Legendary gunman though in reality he always appears to be a complete idiot who only likes donuts. This is more for comic relief as the series has a much darker under plot on how exactly the human race ended up as it did.

Vash is faced with trying to preserve life while protecting the people he cares about.

Evangelion comes in at my top choice as a classic anime that is a must see. It is not everyone's cup of tea if you like an anime that isn't straight-forward handed to you and explained then you'll love Evangelion.
The main character Shinji is forced to pilot a giant robot to protect his home from attacks against mysterious beings called "Angels".

Asuka,another pilot of german decent is the loud bossy one while Rei, a mysteriously quiet pilot, has an unknown background. They are all children due to the fact that only children of this age seem to be able to pilot the robots.

Through the entire series is a heavy religious undertone that is useful to understand before watching. Not only are their religious undertones but many psychologial issues affect the characters. Reject, abandonment, suicide, desire are common themes making this not just your ordinary giant robot anime.
