Information about top country songs for people who remember the golden years of the sixties, seventies and eighties, but definitely before 1990

Top Country Songs from the Sixties, Seventies & Eighties

If, like me, you prefer the top country songs from the golden years for the seventies and eighties, this is for you.

Nowadays there are a lot of crappy recordings around on pirate sites that offer only second rate listening.

On this site I'll show you how to get really top quality recordings at the lowest possible prices.

I've posted a YouTube video of one of my all time favorite singers Johnny Cash singing A Boy Named Sue in 1969 inside St.Quintin gaol a little lower down this page. Considering it was recorded in the middle of a near riot the sound is darned good. A real taster of the sort of music that I think of as being from the golden era.

You can find Johnny's The Legend boxed set here.

Because I couldn't help myself, I also posted a video of Willie Nelson singing Always on My Mind. The sound isn't the greatest but the song is.

So, I'll come clean, my favorite singers are: Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Tammy Wynette, John Denver and of course Bob Dylan. You can vote for your favorite lower down this page. This will help me decide on the content and make the site more useful and fun for you.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a decent recording of City of New Orleans, although there is one truly awful one on YouTube, but I will be posting some links to some really great recordings over the next few days.

Real fans want great recordings.

So, don't miss out. Why not grab the RSS feed for this site and put it in your RSS reader so you will be automatically notified of any new posts I make here. I have written a short article about how to get automatic RSS notification. You will find it just below the Bob Dylan video.

How to Use RSS Feeds to Keep up to Date with New Postings Here

We Use Bloglines to Read RSS Feeds

How Does Bloglines Work?

I took this article directly from the Bloglines web site.

Bloglines is a "news aggregator." Many online information sources, including web sites, weblogs and news services, now broadcast their content to the web in so-called "syndicated feeds" or "news feeds" with new technologies like Really Simple Syndication (RSS) and ATOM.

News aggregator software and services collect those syndicated feeds and present them to end users in a variety of ways.

Bloglines is a server-based aggregation system. This means that we run and manage all of the software and technologies necessary to collect the syndicated feeds from tens of millions of online information sources on our own computer servers and databases, and deliver that amazing content to you as a free, easy-to use online service.

After you join Bloglines you simply search for the content you are interested in and identify the feeds you want to track. Once you "subscribe" to those feeds (a single-click on an orange RSS or XML button like the one top right in this article), Bloglines will constantly check those feeds for changes or additions and direct new information onto your Bloglines personal page.

I just love country music and so far, for me, the best country star ever is Kenny Chesney and his songs mean so much to me! I love Kenny so much that I even have my own personalized Kenny Chesney checks aside from other merchandise that have been filling my bedroom! Thanks Kenny for that wonderful music of yours and thanks to you, Country Music Man for this wonderful lens! I'll give it 5 stars and I'll even "favorite" it and "bookmark" it! Lenses like this should have a special place!
