Top Medical Colleges of India 

The listed colleges are not according to ranking but include colleges that are considered among top twenty five medical colleges of India. CBSE conducts AIPMT test every year and fifteen pre cent seats in most of the government institutes are filled up through this test. Government has issued instructions to provide reservations to SC and ST candidates from this year (2008) out of 15 percent CBSE quota. Links are provided to all these colleges so that anyone interested may get more information about an institution. In general, 85 percent seats are reserved to candidates belonging to that particular state in which a college is situated. The top medical institute of India is AIIMS located in the capital of India.

News related to medical Education:

Gujarat will double the number of MBBS seats available in medical colleges in the state within two years. If proposals are cleared by the Health Ministry, the 12 new medical colleges would add 1,700 medical seats. At present, the state has 12 medical colleges and they have 1655 seats. The four colleges already proposed are expected to add 700 seats and the eight new proposals are expected to add 1,000 seats and the state is hoping to get clearance for academic year 2010-2011.
