Don't make the mistake made by spammers and the like and think you can manufacture websites by the hundreds and cross link and duplicate and make your website a search engine optimized star.
While you will have a measure of temporary success if you are not generating seo quality links your success will be short lived.
Here is my short list of must dos and must haves for any sophisticated search engine optimization friendly marketing campaign:
1. Determine in advance what population you want linking to your website. This will make it easier to give solid relevance to your editing and resultant search engine optimization and marketing efforts.
2. Always remain focused on quality in content, style and graphic presentation. I your pages are seo optimized your site will shine.
3. Refine and redo everything weekly or bi-weekly. Your goal is to move your page ranking higher. If your website becomes stagnant the effort to boost your seo marketing results will be an uphill battle.
4. Do not loose your focus on quality content. If your website does not have a balance of savvy seo friendly content and graphics very few visitors will choose to link to you.

1. Buy your way. By performing a thorough search for SEO marketing resources you will find literally thousands of options......all with a price. While the major search engines don't like websites that over do the gimmicks and strategies that build top-ranking momentum, you can invest in smart technology and move rapidly to the top without incurring penalties.
2. Think page rank, high page rank but don't forget about quality. Your best strategy is to link to sites where linking rights can be purchased, but be sure your choices are search engine optimized. Quality counts not only on your own site but the sites you link to as well. When your site rises to high ranking levels with the a major search engine marketing powerhouse like Google, it will soar on other search engines as well.
3. Optimize, Optimize, Optimize. Only about 20% of your competitors are operating from websites that are optimized to be search engine friendly and attractive to visitors as well. It also sets you on course to keep ahead of the pack when you tweak your sites meta files and keywords on a regular basis. All of these changes will improve your search engine ranking. There are several options for savvy tools to keep you moving upward.
4. Join a search engine marketing forum and participate in the discussions. Give advice to build your credibility and post your own links. This builds awareness of your company and helps build a solid core of targeted traffic.
5. Write articles or ads using your experience and use the information to build your image. Take advantage of professionals who can handle some of the editing for your marketing presentations. This is the time consuming part of the process but the payoff is huge.
6. When all else fails and you're not getting the results you need, check the forums and scour the ads and hire yourself an SEO marketing consultant.
You can often test the waters through groups like Yahoo! and MSN. Often undiscovered SEO or search engine marketing pros can be found through the contacts you make in the forums.

How to Market With a Squidoo Lens

Nearly everyone is talking about Squidoo these days. This site began its climb to fame in 2005 and even in the face of stiff competition Squidoo is delivering its promise.
But how does the average person find success with this membership powerhouse that's not exactly user-friendly?
Steps
The process for success with Squidoo is to begin by building what is called a lens, which is Squidoo-ese for a webpage. This is not a formidable task, if you use my secret.
The secret is to make it fun. I've found the more fun I have come up with the craziest ideas I can think of, the better results I get. I'm talkin' traffic results. Then there's promotion, but that comes later.
For now let's get into the Squidoo lens building process.
1. Make a list of 10 of the craziest ideas you can think of in 10 minutes. This is not the time to make a list and start thinking about what you're going to accept or reject.
All there is to do for the next 10 minutes is write every crazy-out-of-the-box idea that comes to your mind for the next 10 minutes.
Your focus can be on a product, service, toy, car design, time saver, time waster, life saving idea, life enhancing idea, work simplifier, work intensifier, 10 furniture items you can make with a peanut, etc. Just loosen up and start jotting down the first thing that comes to mind. Set your cell-phone timer to 10 minutes and get started. Stop with the ring-tone sounds.
2. Once you've got your list of 10 or more ideas (hopefully you have more than 10) it's time to do some research, Google style. What this means, take the first idea from your list and type it into Google's search box and see how many searches it matches. Write the number of searches next to your idea and go on to the next one.
3. When you've completed this research part of the process check over the numbers of searches and prioritize your list from the highest to the lowest. Regardless of the numbers (unless the number is under 10K) list them in order of popularity from 1 to 10.
4. You now have the subject for the first 10 Squidoo lenses you will create. At this point in your Squidoo lens building project it may feel like a huge challenge, however, since you can build a lens in an hour or two, you could commit to building just one a day and have your entire 10 lens project completed in just over a week from today.
5. Your first step is to Google your first lens topic again. This time you are going to look at the top ten searches that are listed. Check out what is written, what products or services are being promoted and make your notes.
Look for the message you think the promoter was trying to feature. If there are paid ads at the top or sides of the search results page, check those out as well.
Make a list of your impressions about style, message, hot-or-not!
Make your notes and include a brief description of the graphics the advertisers have used. For example, are they using women, males, families, young people, old people, Asian models, African models, European models, etc.?
6. Add the ideas you like to your listing of designs you may include in your lens. These promoters made it to the first page on Google. They must be doing something right and they are most likely doing it consistently.
Copy their style and ideas (not their words and graphics that's plagerism and stealing and you'll derail your promotion before you've gotten your first click) and you could enjoy some of their success for yourself and your products and services.
7. Once you've finished your research on the content you're ready for Research, Part Two. For this part of the process you'll be looking at your list from the perspective of visitors searching for your Squidoo lens.
Searchers type phrases, referred to as keywords, into the search field hoping to go right to the product information they need.
Your job is to make it easy for them to find your information....FIRST....or at least on the first page of Google's results. Let's use the example of Furniture Made From A Peanut.
For your keyword detective work you'll want to use Google's keyword tool. There are several other sources and as you become more comfortable with the process of building lenses you can always expand your learning curve by checking out the options.
For now, just type "https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal" into the search box and your research will have begun.
Once you get to the keyword tool just follow the simple instructions and type, on separate lines, the following groups of words:
furniture made with peanuts
building with peanuts
products from peanuts
While this will give you a few peanut related search results, none of them will be a direct hit for furniture and peanuts, but the exercise serves as an introduction to how the keyword search tool works.
8. When you're using information from your own lists you'll find this tool to be a huge simplifier to building a practical and useful keyword list. Follow this process for each of your 10 topics, one at a time to save your sanity, and you'll be ready for to start the next part of the process of building your lens.
9. "A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words." This old saying is more important in today's Internet marketplace than ever before. You'll want pictures, several of them, for each of your lenses. Matching pictures with your topics and ideas within the topics will serve several purposes.
Pictures add color which attracts and excites the eye of the reader. They also add an image of professionalism and credibility to your Squidoo lens making it more readable and sticky.
The sticky factor means visitors will stay longer to enjoy the pictures and content. They will often come back for a second visit. This is a very good thing.
There are several great sources for pictures, both still and video. Squidoo provides these sources with one-click ease of use. Flicker and YouTube are the best known sources and their catalog is almost unlimited.
Take your time and enjoy you browsing, but don't get side-tracked at YouTube. That is one site that knows what sticky is all about and they use it better than anyone I know:)
10. Mastering the content portion of your lens. We've covered how to find what the masses are searching for, how to put your lens into their face, and how to use pictures to attract them long enough to check out your content. now for what to write and how to write it.
I hasten to add you do not have to be a novelist or reporter to make this work for you.
Your content should be written in short paragraphs. These paragraphs should range from one or two sentences to a maximum of four or five sentences. More than that and it appears too wordy and your visitors will move away without getting your message.
Here's the short version of the above paragraph. Keep it short.
The good news is you can have a successful lens that joins some of the most popular Squidoo lenses in history with a total of four or five paragraphs on the entire lens page! That's right, just four or five short paragraphs sprinkled appropriately about your lens and your writing job is done.
11. Let's look at your notes on the 10 topics you've put together so far. More than likely you've already written enough to complete the written portion of several sections of your page.
You'll need to clean them up a little and decide which sentences best describe your topic, however the hardest part has most likely already been handled.
Naturally, Squidoo has a host of forums and help topics including Squidoo U where you can get help with how to make your copy look and work better. Use these valuable free tools and your lens popularity will soar.
12. Putting it all together. You can always take your time and keep your lens in "draft' status. This allows you to work in your lens at your own pace and no one will see it until you're ready to let it go.
13. Once you're ready to reveal your masterpiece to the International marketplace you'll just click on "Publish" and your brand new Squidoo lens will be presented to everyone. Be sure to add appropriate "tags" to your promotional efforts. Tags are like keywords and are one reason why the search engines like Google pick up your lens when their spiders are searching for fresh content.
14. You've published your first lens, now for the easy part. Share the birth of your new baby with friends and family. What this means is you can go to Digg, StumbleOn, MySpace, YouTube, and any of 100s of other membership sites to spread the links to your lens. Pass the word and allow others to leave their comments, email your lens, and get the buzz started.
15. You can also start a blog, if you haven't done so already, and post your Squidoo lens link there. More link spreading means more eyeballs.
