My Personal List of The Top Ten Movie Stars
#1 Julia Roberts
Steel Magnolia's Gets My Vote For Best Performance by Julia Roberts
Julia Robert's performance as Vivian Ward in Pretty Woman was the performance that first got my attention. She's such a natural performer whose charisma and likeability has sustained her popularity throughout the years. She never fails to entertain and plays characters you want to route for every time. While it was her childhood dream to become a veterinarian, the most popular actress in America will do just fine!
One of my favorite scenes comes from her role as Shelby in Steel Magnolias. One of the most memorable scenes in this movie is when Shelby is at the beauty salon getting her hair done for her wedding when all of a sudden she begins to convulse (because of her diabetes). Her vulnerability and ability to convey is really captured in this moment. This movie really emphasizes the power of women acting together and for each other.

#2 Sean Penn
Mystic River gets my vote for best performance by Sean Penn
Sean Penn is the actor at the top my top ten movie stars. He's so focused that even when he's not speaking his face tells the story.I loved him in the role as Sam in "I Am Sam". He was lovable and totally believable.
My favorite performance from Sean Penn comes from his role as Jimmy Markum where he's violently crying out "Is that my daughter in there?" This performance was so intensely gutwrenching I viewed it over and over in total awe with this actor who played the part to such perfection.
I read the book written by Dennis Lehane and the movie was everything I hoped it to be and more!

#3 Richard Gere
An Officer and a Gentleman gets my vote for best performance by Richard Gere
Richard Gere is fabulous as Zack Mayo in Officer and a Gentleman! He gets the number 3 spot on the top ten movie stars list. Besides his good looks, this guy oozes in talent. My favorite scene takes place at the navy training camp when he's being reprimanded and he's being pushed physically to give his DUI. As he's almost at his breaking point he screams out "I aint gonna quit, don't you do it, don't, I got nowhere else to go!" I became a fan then and there! #4 John Travolta
Hairspray gets my vote for best performance by John Travolta
I love John Travolta. He's had an incredible career in the movie industry thus far and I don't see an end to it anytime soon.I love him best when he's singing and dancing. Of course "Grease" is timeless but his role as Edna Turnblad in "Hairspray" is hands down his most unique role as he struts around as an overweight mother who takes her first step out of her house after years of hiding in her house.
The number "Welcome to the Sixties" was my favorite song in the movie featuring John Travolta and Nikki Blonsky who stars as his (her) daughter Tracey.
I love the humor in this number and love the theme for the movie. This film shows a lighter side to John Travolta, one I truly enjoyed.
John Travolta takes the number 4 spot on my top ten movie stars list.

#5 Robin Williams
Good Will Hunting gets my vote for best performance by Robin Williams
Robin Williams holds the number 5 position in my list of top ten movie stars. has always been known for his comedic roles but I love him best in a drama. He is genuine in his role as Sean Maguire, the mourning widower and psychologist from Southie and makes you sit still as he explains to Will Hunting why he's not as brilliant as he thinks he is. He makes a point in an understated way that almost brings you to tears as you get to the core of his pain.My favorite part is Robin Williams monologue where he says: "You don't know about real loss, 'cause it only occurs when you've loved something more than you love yourself. And I doubt you've ever dared to love anybody that much."

#6 Nicole Kidman
The Others gets my vote for best performance by Nicole Kidman
Nicole Kidman gets the number 6 position in my top ten movie stars list. She is authentic as Grace Stewart. She has piercing eyes that capture your attention when she plays a role. I love the subtleties in "The Others" and the fact that it proves a movie doesn't have to be violent and graphic to be thrilling. Movies Featuring Nicole Kidman
#7 Jim Carrey
Dumb and Dumber gets my vote for best performance by Jim Carrey
Jim Carrey is the funniest guy in show buisness, and he represents the best of Canadian Talent. The first movie I ever saw starring Jim Carrey was Dumb and Dumber, and let me tell you I was more than just in stitches, I was on the floor in stitches. He's quirky and spontaneous as Lloyd Christmas in this movie and doesn't hold back, does he ever? Movies Featuring Jim Carrey
#8 Leonardo DiCaprio
Titanic gets my vote for best performance by Leonardo DiCaprio
I'm torn between two movies here. On the one hand I love the movie "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?" with DiCaprio starring as Arnie Grape a challenged boy who seems to be a thorn in his brother's (Johnny Depp) side. His portrayal of Arnie was incredible considering he was so young. By far one of his best performances."Titanic" on the other hand was a classic. The music that accompanied the film was phenomenal. I must have seen this movie on the big screen at least 3 times before I'd had my fill.
My favorite scene is the moment Rose (Kate Winslet) breaks free from her role as debutant and has fun with Jack (Leo DiCaprio). They dance, laugh and break the rules together in this classic love story.

#9 Meryl Streep
Ironweed gets my vote for best performance by Meryl Streep
Meryl Streep stands in position 9 of my top ten movie stars for her performance in Ironweed. Meryl, how do you describe a talent such as hers? She is flawless and always a class act. I have so many favorites I could go on for days. Some of my favorites include "Bridges of Madison County", "Sophie's Choice", and of course "Ironweed".I love the kooky character she plays in this role as Helen Archer alongside Jack Nicholson who plays Francis Phelan. Helen is a homeless alcoholic in the 1930's who is down on her luck until she meets Francis who helps to make her feel alive again.
Movies Featuring Meryl Streep
#10 Eddie Murphy
Norbit gets my vote for best performance by Eddie Murphy
I love Eddie Murphy in practically anything, but his role as Norbit, Rasputia, and Mr. Wong was bordering on hysterical! I love the way he wrinkles his nose when he says "Rasputia". He is original and gets better with age. Eddie Murphy, last but not least, takes the number 10 position in my list of top ten movie stars. Movies Featuring Eddie Murphy
