My favorite "Top 10" travel accessories
Read on!
Are you ready to go?
Now I am not saying that you should bring each of these 10 items on your trip, but I do suggest you have them at hand to pick and choose from according to your destination.
THE TOP 10 LIST- according to me
- Sarong
- Travel Pillow
- Sleep sack
- Swiss mini multi tool
- Water Filter Bottle ( or a regular water bottle if traveling in water safe areas)
- A roll of toilet paper. Believe me when I tell you, you will thank me one day!
- Mini travel fan. I use one that allows batteries. It can move air in a stale room, keep mosquitos at bay, provide white noise and cool you off on a hot night.
- Travel first aid kit
- A flashlight
- Duct tape
Sarong
Sarong - Also called Pareo, Lappa, Kanga . A rectangular piece of fabric size approximately 66" x 44" inches (66" x 22" for half sarongs) in length and width .
A pareo can be a skirt, a dress, a sling, a wrap, a beach bag, a pilow and if needed a top sheet. It take no room in your suitcase but if I could take nothing else, I would pack a sarong.
Travel Pillow
Travel Pillow - Either a blow up neck pillow or a soft foldable pillow. I do not go anywhere without my pillow! There is something comforting about putting your head down on your own pillow at the end of a long day. It is worth the space in your suitcase.
Sleep Sack
A sleep sack can keep you warm on the plane or used between the sheets of the beds where you are traveling. Especially useful when you are traveling through areas of developing countries where cleanliness is questionable.
Swiss Army Credit Card Size multi tool
I got one of these as a gift from a good friend. Not only do I not travel without it, I keep it in my purse. There is a little light, tweezer, multi mini screwdriver, scissors and magnifying glass. Don't leave home without it!
Water/Water Filter Bottle
For those of us merely going where water is potable, bring your favorite water bottle. Fill it at the hotel before you leave and refill when you stop for snacks and meals. I have never had someone refuse to fill my bottle with water. It will save money and the environment.
There are also water filter bottles that have their own filtration system built right in so you can help yourself avoid travelers revenge in areas with questionable water quality.
I want it, I want it! Where can I get these wonderful items? Right here of course!
Toilet Paper!
Between less than clean bathrooms and bathrooms with no paper, to toilet paper that feels like sandpaper, believe me when I say, you will thank me for this! Bring a small zip lock bag and keep some in your purse or day pack!
Travel fan
Hot airplane, smelly room, hot car, no air, need some white noise? This is another item I don't leave home without!
Travel First Aid Kit
A first aid kit does not have to be big and bulky, but should contain gloves, band aids, first aid ointment and gauze. Add items according to your destination like nausea and diarrhea pills.
Travel flashlight
Dark roads, dimly lit hotel rooms, no electricity, dark restaurants. A little light is always a little godsend!
Duct tape
Duct tape could save the world! Torn suitcase, no worries. Holes in screens with killer mosquitoes coming in? A life saver! You will use it at least once per trip!
The second 5. Step right up and get them here!

A Kindle"
Where to get your Kindle and accessories? Amazon of course!
Once you have gathered your Top 10 travel accessories, put them all ( minus the items you use everyday at home) in one pouch. Then put it where you will remember it when it is time to pack for your trip. Then you can grab it and go!
The Other 10 in no particular order!

13 - travel alarm clock
14 - travel candle in tin with a top
15 - photo from home for extended trips
16 - travel adapters/converters
17 - portable air purifier ( can be worn around the neck)
18 - electronic translator - a big help if you are traveling on your own
19 - Video I Pod or I Touch helps pass time in transit and on long flights
20 - Eye Mask and Ear Plugs
