Will Smith Movies

Will Smith is among the most loved actors of all time. Most people like the bad boy some just like the man in black others are probably wooed by the stength of Ali. Whether it be because parents just don't understand or it's because they are jiggy with it. Whatever it is, his charm and love for what he does always comes through and that is the most inspiring thing.

People are always on the look out for Will Smith movies because they are bound to cause a stir. From wrestling sharks to scouting the wild west. The man from Phily certainly owns the crown of the Fresh Prince. He makes gold out of everything and that is what people like, a stroke of laughter or just a heartfelt smile.

Seven Pounds (2008)

The most recent movie by Will Smith entitled "Seven Pounds" sees the actor working alongside the director Gabriele Muccino from The Pursuit of Happyness.

The film speaks about a man who had made a mistake and seeks to find the ultimate redemption. He chose the path of sacrificing his life so that a few good people who are hampered by various physical challenges can continue to make a meaningful contribution to their communities. The story takes on a nice drama love story kind of vibe as Ben (Will Smith) gets emotionally connected with Emily Posa (Rosario Dawson) one of the recipients.

The movie makes for a nice mellow evening out as it gives you a chance to question yourself and basically do some soul searching. The screenplay was most skillfully created only giving little or no clues as to how everything will turn out.

Hancock (2008)

The latest Will Smith movie on the list is Hancock. Will Smith plays the character John Hancock an alcoholic with superhuman powers. The film also features Jason Bateman and Charlize Theron.

The film is about a drunk super hero who constantly costs the city of Los Angeles millions of dollars. He saves lives but his own is in disrepair. But things changed a bit after he saved Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman), who makes it his mission to change Hancock's public image for the better.

The movie received mostly average reviews. However I never like to follow reviewers. I find that most times their opinions vary from mine. Movies are stories created by people to provide multimedia entertainment. They are often times not a chop out of life. If that was the case it would limit the creative capacity of movie makers and films would lose the art.

I believe when you watch a movie it's about seeing the story that the film is telling. Forgetting about the story behind the creation of the movie and what it was rumored to be about. People might not agree with me but Wild Wild West was said to be an absolute disaster. Sure it cost a lot to produce so much was anticipated. I never saw it in the theaters but when I eventually got around to watching it. I realized it was not near as awful as the reviews made it to be. It was not over the top but it was a good movie to sit back and watch. If you forget the hype about how much was spend to make it you can enjoy the movie.

Different people have different tastes and I think that is how things are.

I Am Legend (2007)

The movie I am Legend starring Will Smith was highly respected. The legends of Bob Marley and Will Smith sure combined well to give the audience a treat. I am Legend is post-apocalyptic science fiction film where Smith plays US Army virologist Lieutenant Colonel Robert Neville, who is immune to a vicious man-made virus originally created to cure cancer. He works to create a cure while living in Manhattan in 2012, a city inhabited by animalistic victims of the virus.

The movie featured some of the most beautiful photography and visual effects. Not only that but the story was intriguing in that it showed a character Neville who was probably th only healthy survivor in the town. The disease had wiped out the town leaving a trail of gloom and destruction.

He was always seeking to find the will to continue instead of just going down like everything else. He was partnered by his dog for most of the film. Most critics approved of the showing and rated Will's performance to be one of his best pieces.

I had to watch it myself as I do not rely on the critics. As Bob's music played in the background it helped to set the mood. I can remember soldiers around the world had used his music for inspiration in their most trying times. This was what came in my mind as I watched and then I could better imagine what it was for them by looking at what it did for Neville.

The DVD's were relesed in March 2008 and that was a smash as people tried to get especially two disk special edition which contained the alternate ending to the film.

The Pursuit Of Happyness (2006)

The Pursuit of Happyness is a biographical story of Chris Gardener(played by Will Smith) a sales man who struggled through many trials to eventually became a stock broker. Chris Gardener was the sales man for a company selling bone density scanners. However, sales were low because doctors and hospitals claimed that the equipment though valuable was too expensive.

His wife got miserable and left him and his son Jaden to fend for them selves. He los his car because he couldn't pay the fine for his tickets and his house due to his inability to pay rent. He was thus forced to live on the streets in buses or wherever he could find a spot.

Some how though he got enrolled into an internship program despite the challenges he pushed on and eventually got the job. The juice of the story really came from the performances. It was real you could feel the characters. You become so dragged into their world that you would want to reach out and just help in whatever way you could.

For his performance will smith was nominated Academy Awards Best Actor. Though he didn't win the prize it showed how much the performance was appreciated.

His real son Jaden played the roll of Chris Gardener's son Christopher. His performance did not go without notice either. Their were talks that he out shone his dad. However that is between them. But really nothing could beat the performance between a blood father and son on screen playing father and son. The DVD contains a bonus feature, which explores the working relationship the two enjoyed.

Hitch (2005)

Will Smith worked on Hitch in 2005. He played Alex "Hitch" Hitchens a date doctor a type of consultant who helps other men to get their perfect date. This really is an interesting movie because you realize Hitch is really good at his job. However he couldn't do the things he thought other people to do so well and that is to get the girl of his dreams.

This girl Sara Melas played by Eva Mendes is a gossip columnist who is trying to unmask Hitch. She believes that he tries to get women to date men by by tricking them. But somehow they fell for each other. After they went through all their dramas eventually they got back together. The lesson in his final word "Basic principles... There are none."

The film was well received by the public. Not only in profits but also on the review charts. You can get the DVD Here
