Torchwood - BRAND NEW SERIES - Great Sci Fi Drama !

It would have been easy to just write a review of Torchwood 3 from the BBC Press Releases like most people do but I wanted to see it for myself and give you a TRUE version.

It's all a bit dark and mysterious (I'm a great SF Fan and like that Alien sort of thing !)

The Torchwood team are definitely more cosy and friendly with each other (that was something that irked me about the earlier series - all that back-biting seems to have gone now)

The pairings of the Torchwood team remain pretty much the same except
Rhys & Gwen - don't think that will last ...
One character will turn out to have a quite unexpected sexual orientation !
(shan't tell you or I'll spoil it for you !)

I LOVED Mr Blowfish and think he may well get resurrected ! The yellow sportscar was a brilliant idea.

Captain Jack is superb as usual and his new/old friend Captain John Hart was excelllent too. The Fight scenes were exciting and believable
All of the earlier Torchwood team are around getting into scrapes and (sometimes) getting rescued - all in all its great fun but a little on the dark and a bit adult side (men kissing closeup was I thought a bit played for shock effect rather than for plot content).

To give more details of the first episode would be unfair to viewers in the USA and other far away places and might spoil their enjoyment of the series. Hope no one else does that !

Do watch it - I understand a slightly less violent version will be around in childrens viewing hours (Torchwood 3 is an after 9pm viewing in the UK)

I'm looking forward to seeing Martha Jones again in Torchwood .

Torchwood on tv was originally named from the Torchwood Estate in a Doctor Who episode.
The First Torchwood was set in Canary Wharf Tower (still actually occupied by aliens !) and was destroyed in the Cyberman Wars.
In the TV series it is set in Cardiff in the rebuilt area of the City Centre.
You really MUST pay attention - We are Not going to show you any real footage of Aliens (although it gets very near it sometimes !) Oh OK here are some publicly available Alien videos.

CAN I JOIN TORCHWOOD ? - Sorry but no. We have a very long waiting list and our only vacancies currently are for silicone-based life-forms to operate off-world.

After the Roswell fiasco, (don't we have ANY trained UFO pilots left ?) we have tightened up security by the simple expedient of becoming major investors in Newspapers and television channels.
After all it would never do to let them know that lizard headed creatures with red faces mingle amonst us - with of course a standard ignore me transmitter fitted.

The Saurians are a pretty dullard bunch and their nest is somewhere under the Aldwych underneath the Strand in WC2. (Apparently they really love the mud baths just in the Thames South of the Savoy - not far from our own HQ in fact at the other end of the Strand) A whole network of unused tunnels leads along the North Bank and they can get around comfortably especially at night.
We do however,have the problem of what we are to do with the simalcrums who have apparently replaced the opposition party with the intention of making the cocaine dens open to all. As part of the slithy Toves plan to cause the breakdown of society, I now call upon the committee to endorse fully my previous plan for the extermination of the abhorrent wretches.
Do we have a quorum yet ? Oh yes - Sir Humphrey is missing but should be along soon.
Could I remind all committee members not to travel on the underground at depths of below 200 feet to avoid the possibility of kidnap. We tragically lost two members of staff in the last rescue attempt and the enemy's kill score was 17. Transfer from O2 deep pit to Scunthorpe holding area On Tuesday Next at 0200 hours.
Convoy will consist of 3 large glass tanks on trailers , 2 met. cars and 4 jeeps of M16 equipped soldiers.
The M11 motorway will be closed to expedite the transfer. No Still or video Cameras permitted.
Operatives are warned of the toxic nature of the P36 gas tanks. Gas Masks to be worn at all times during the transfer.
Captain Jack will oversee the operation.
In case of escape a shoot-to-kill edict is in operation.

Captain Harkness has been brought up to date of the current position of the Cardiff Torchwood Office which was disclosed in a recent episode of Dr Who.
These leaks must stop forthwith. It was very difficult smuggling the aliens out to the Wiltshire establishment especially during a Rugby match at the Stadium. The Aliens are now in more secure cells and it looks rather as though we will have to incorporate a few more civil servants who have stumbled upon the truth.
Interrogation of Mr Branswain has elucidated information about the habits of some of the more
beautiful of his agents. We will accordingly follow memo 276/32 for the capture and turning of those lovely ladies to our side. This will of course include roofies and George will as usual be in charge of supplies and transport.
Four larger operatives will be needed and I suspect that a shielded room may be necessary to curtail their transmission abilities.

During which she banished The Doctor and determined that Britain must be defended against alien/supernatural forces - hence Torchwood).

Because of The Doctor's ministrations and a mistake his then companion Rose Tyler made, Harkness (a time agent from the far future who assumed the identity of a World War II flyer) became unable to die.

John Barrowman has also appeared in a Doctor Who special of the BBC's The Weakest Link.
