Repairing Carburetor Problems on Toro Snowblower

If you are having flooding issues, dying out issues after starting, or other gas related issues, it may be your carb. Before you do a carburetor repair, make sure the gas is fresh and the spark plug is clean. Just keep trying to keep it running and when it starts to die hit the primer. This may clean it out, if not you will have to tear the carburetor apart and clean it.

Toro SnowBlower Pull Starter Repair

Toro snow blowers typically come with a Briggs & Stratton engine, which is started by a pulling a cord wrapped around a spring-recoiled pulley. With repeated use and exposure to harsh elements, the pull cord on your Toro snow blower can wear out and break. You can replace the pull cord on a Toro snow blower in only a few minutes, using some basic hand tools.

1. Loosen the screws that hold the engine cover in place and remove the cover.
2. Disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug by pulling on the protective rubber boot that covers the tip of the spark plug.
3. Loosen the three bolts that hold the starter shroud to the front of the engine. Lift the shroud off of the engine and place it upside-down on a work table.

I have a Snowhound 20 with semi-pneumatic tires that need replacement. Toro sold me the tires, but do not install. I was told that a cone shaped tool with a maximum diameter of 8 inches (matching the wheel diameter) is bolted to the wheel. The tire is heated in boiling water to soften it, then it is pressed over the cone (whereby it expands to 8 inches), then onto the wheel. Lubricant is used on the cone.
I contacted machine shops, bicycle shops, tire shops, fork lift shops, Toro Dealers. All to no avail. The 8 inch cone shaped tool is not available. The wheels have gearing cast into them, so they are custom to this unit.
Any knowledge/experience how to get this done in an economical way?

My 21 inch Power Clear R-TEK 2 cycle runs ok, but isn't shooting the snow out the chute. It clogs up immediately, then shoots the snow out by the blades. But, all my neighbors' snowblowers handled the same snow with ease. Any ideas? Do I need to replace the paddles or belt, or re-adjust the belt?

    Thanks in advance.

Yep, that is the first thing to do. The surging is probably caused by the main jet getting clogged. Check the seals and o-rings to make sure they are not starting to disintegrate.
