TPS is built on three factors: enhancing production process, logistics management and employee loyalty. Procedure of manufacturing is planned and a step by step process is planned called short plans where all the resources are assembled well in advance before the next step begins. Logistics management describes about the supplier relationships with the organisation. It also focuses on the delivery of goods to the customer. Employee loyalty is the important factor which is implemented successfully where employees are given freedom and responsibility to perform work according to the defined procedures. Toyota Producation System follows a procedure where every employee is asked for suggestions and most of these suggestions are implemented in the organisation process. This increases commitment and confidence in the employee's capability and the efficiency of the workers is calculated high.
Logistics management is another factor where the relationships of suppliers and product delivery system are redefined. The importance of relationship between the supplier and the organisation is improved which resulted in timely delivery of quality materials. Supply chain management is a different subject which gained lot of importance over a period of time. Delivery of raw materials in time and the task of assembling of new parts of the machinery is done with the help of good suppliers. Focussing on production process is first done by Toyota where started a new philosophy of implementing a step by step procedure for production to minimise errors and totally eliminate waste during shaping of the product. Elimination of waste completely during manufacturing of product is the aim of Toyota. Short plans are encouraged because long planning with high durations consumes lot of time, resources and machinery. All the machinery is engaged with one activity and it results in lapse in time. It increases idle time of man and machinery. Also the machine stops working whenever a problem is encountered protecting from producing defective products. As soon as the machine stops working the problem is identified and the cause of the problem is known and rectified immediately. After rectifies the problem the machine functions normally and a thorough analysis is done to understand the root cause of the problem. Thus, Toyota Production System and its defined procedures contributed in producing world class products in the automobile industry. TPS today is one of the successfully implemented philosophies in quality management and it became the first organisation to emphasise on quality than quantity.
