Best toys for a 6 month old baby

When my son was six months old he had a lot of toys. However there were some he hardly touched and others he loved and would play with everyday. In this lens I have tried to highlight the toys I would recommend for a six month old baby based on the toys my son loved and played with. I think when buying for a sixth month old it's good to choose toys that have lots of different play options so they are likely to play with them everyday without getting bored. It's also good to choose toys that will last for a little while and grow with the child. I have tried to recommend toys for different price ranges. I hope you find some inspiration on what to buy a six month old baby in the suggestions below.

Baby Einstein Animal Exploration Tunnel

This is a great toy to keep babies occupied. Very young babies can lie on the floor and look up at toys at the top of the tunnel. As they get older it makes a great tunnel to crawl through and sit under. The fabric crinkles as the babies crawl through the tunnel and there are a lots of developmental and detachable toys which babies can look at and play with. There are links where you can add more toys or move around the existing toys.

Ball pits for babies

Ball pits are great for sixth month old babies and older. Babies can sit in the balls, feel and play with them. Parents can roll and gently throw balls to a baby. As they get older they can crawl around in them and chase after balls. My son used to love ball pits. In actual fact after he started to crawl and walk it was the only place he would sit still for a while and immerse himself in balls so we used to be able to sit down too and have some light relief. Here are some options of ball pits you can purchase.

Musical Activity tables

There are lots of options of musical activity tables for babies of six months and older. The best ones are those that offer lots of activities which will help them learn too. It's best to get one that will grow with your child so it offers activities and games they can still enjoy as they get older. It's also good to get ones which offer a wide variety of songs. This means your child (and you!) won't get bored of the same tunes. Here are some good options.

Stacking cups

Stacking cups are a such a simple, inexpensive toy but babies love them and they encourage all kinds of creative and constructive play. They can hide things under them, bang them together, knock down towers and when they get a bit older build towers themselves. My son and my niece both loved stacking cups when they were babies and now they are two they still play with them now by building big towers which can be knocked down. As children get older they're great for teaching colors as well.

Fisher-Price Jumperoo

This looks like a fantastic toy for a 6 month old baby. The baby sits in it and can jump up and down and this activates rainforest lights and music. There's toys all around with a spinning seat so that the baby can reach them and play with them. You can watch a baby on one on the Amazon website and you can see how much they throughly enjoy themselves. It is also a safe and comfortable place for the baby to sit and play. The reviews on Amazon say that some children are happy to sit in there for up to 45 minutes! It looks like a great buy and one you can keep to pass onto future children.

More stacking toys

I think that the best toys and the ones that last the longest are often the more simple toys that don't have music or lights or do a lot but encourage creative play. For six month old babies there are lots of different kinds of stacking toys that fall into this category. Like the stacking cups, not only encourage creative play they help develop fine motor skills. Here are some examples of stacking toys for babies.

Little Super Star Classical Stacker

This is a toy which is aimed at between 6 months to 36 months. We had this toy and my son loved it. It's a classic stacking toy but plays music and lights up when the rings are put on the base. It took him a while to be able to put the rings on (at about 12 months) but he used to enjoy taking them off and looking at the flashing lights too. This is one he used to play with on a daily basis.

Educational toys for 6 month old

Many toys featured in this lens have educational value but here are a two more educational toys for 6 month old babies.

I think the Vtech infant learning rhyme and discover book is excellent for learning. When my son was 6 months he was fascinated and attracted to musical toys that lit up and would have loved this. It has three light up buttons which are different characters and easy for baby to press. It has 7 nursery rhymes which help introduce baby to language and melody. It also introduces vocabulary such as different animals.

Another great educational toy is Baby Einstein Count and Compose Piano. It lights up which attracts baby's attention. Press the keys to compose your own music. Or, change the play to number mode and get an introduction to numbers in English, Spanish and French!

Nice! I'd probably be giving IQ Baby Knock-Knock blocks to my 6 month old nephew. He loves to bite and put things in his mouth. Guess the blocks are the safest items to give. He'll have fun with it and will have difficulty biting it.

Hope you could visit my lenses as well. Thanks

My neice LOVED playing with beach balls and golf balls. She would laugh her head off when we would play around with them. My nephew loves Baby Einstein toys. Especially the one that plays music. Great lens!

I love how you have put this together. What I especially like is that you have given your own opinions and views under each Amazon section. I don't feel like I'm being overwhelmed with sales modules. Blessed and 5*.
