Your Dutch genealogy guide

The goal of this lens is to introduce the Trace your Dutch roots website, the premier Dutch genealogy guide on the internet.

The website

The Dutch genealogy website is the focal point of Trace your Dutch roots. Here, you will find a guide to online Dutch genealogy, a Dutch genealogy dictionary, a section on emigration from The Netherlands, a set of regional genealogy guides, and much more.

The blog

The Trace your Dutch roots blog is a blog about Dutch genealogy, written in English.

If you are new to blogs, blog is short for web log. Early blogs were usually personal journals. Many blogs are still in the traditional journal format, but nowadays most blogs, including the Trace your Dutch roots blog, are more like online magazines. The Trace your Dutch roots blog has news items, short articles about Dutch genealogy, book and website reviews, and tips to help you find your Dutch ancestors.

You can subscribe by e-mail to receive each article in your mailbox. Expect to receive between 5 and 10 articles each month. For the computer savvy amongst us: You can also subscribe to the RSS feed.

The newsletter

Trace your Dutch roots publishes a quarterly Dutch genealogy newsletter. Each quarter, the newsletter is sent out to hundreds of subscribers. Each edition contains several articles related to Dutch genealogy. Many of these articles are not available on the blog or website.

The graveyard rabbit of Utrecht and Het Gooi

Members of the Association of Graveyard Rabbits promote the "historical importance of cemeteries, grave markers, and the family history to be learned from a study of burial customs, burying grounds, and tombstones". Members are required to have a blog where they engage in "the study of cemeteries, the preservation of cemeteries, and the transcription of genealogical/historical information written in cemeteries".

I am a charter member of the Association. My membership blog is The Graveyard rabbit of Utrecht and Het Gooi. This blog is part of the Trace your Dutch roots domain. The most recent post on the blog are:
