Tracy Anderson Method - How She Designed Hybrid Body Reformer
At this time, Tracy has a studio in Los Angeles and hopes to open more locations both nationally and internationally (beginning in New York City). Clients at her studio have access to her Hybrid Body Reformer and new band system.
In order to bring the Tracy Anderson Method to the masses, Tracy has released DVD's that feature her signature workouts. In 2007, she released Tracy Anderson's Dance Aerobics. In September 2008, she will be releasing three new workouts: the Dance Cardio DVD, the Mat Workout DVD, and the Post-Pregnancy Workout DVD.
At 5'0", with a dad like Danny DeVito, Tracy often felt that her body was genetically doomed to a lifetime of bulkiness. This fear hit home at age 18 when she went to New York City to become a dancer. In New York, she experienced a large weight gain and heard time and time again "beautiful technique, wonderful performance, just fix that body
And you have a serious career ahead of you." The question was how? None of the conventional forms of fitness seemed to work for her.
Tracy began searching for any way to get the type of body she wanted but felt she wasn't genetically predetermined to have. Inspired by visionary dancers, she began to experiment and create her own workout methods, leading to a complete transformation of her own body. This emotional journey stuck with her and it became her life's work. After she achieved her own a thin, healthy body that she was proud of, she began to wonder if she could do this for others.
Tracy set out testing women of all different shapes, sizes, problem areas, and weakness to find out if it is possible to take a woman from any genetic background and transform her body. Her studies began with detailed research including work with physicians to biopsy muscles. Soon after, she developed a computer software program to help her reach the muscular design goals she created for each client. "I found out that everyone is really like a snowflake, and we can't group body types to get results that hit a home run," says Tracy.
After ten yeats of extensive research based on these principles, Tracy designed the Hybrid Body Reformer (HBR), the only machine with an infinite moving pulley system that targets the muscles from many different angles and allows for an infinite number of different moves. Her work, a hybrid of movement, has been designed to actually reengineer the muscular structure. She has created more than 2,800 moves for the Cirque du Soleil-type moves, so even if you can't dance, you can have the same body as a dancer.
Tracy's philosophy is "If you want a runner's butt, then run. If you want a dancer's body, dance. If you want to fight age skin elasticity issues and problem areas, you have to design your muscular structure to help you accomplish that. Your muscles are manipulative and your body will react to what you put in it and how you use it."
According to Tracy, most gym programs over-work major muscle groups: "Anytime you are doing the same movement over and over you are building and bulking your muscles. It is very important to change your rotations and hit your muscles form different angles so that you are strengthening your accessory muscles and not overusing your large muscle groups."
When the accessory muscles are properly developed, they pull in the larger muscles, creating a tinier body structure. Because the muscles are smart and adapt quickly, constantly changing their workout routine keeps them shifting and responding; therefore, you become stronger without bulking.
In addition to the HBR, Tracy has also developed several other never-before-seen techniques to strengthen the accessory muscles, including a band system, which consists of eight elastic bands, each with varying amount of resistance. One type of band system involves bands that are connected to the ceiling and the other type involves bands that are connected to the floor. Tracy has choreographed carefully sequenced routines for clients to perform while using the bands. The system can be used as a toning method and it can also serve as an apparatus for cardiovascular workouts. When combined with Tracy's other routines, the band system creates a suction effect on the muscles, which pull the skin and create a smooth skin tone. The system is highly effective and is available for clients to use at Tracy Anderson Studios in Los Angeles.

Gwyneth Paltrow's Exercise Routine with Tracy Anderson
How Gwyneth Got Her Fabulous Body?
Gwyneth says she wants people to know she had to work her butt off-literally-to achieve her weight loss goals. She also credits the person she calls her pint-size miracle, trainer Tracy Anderson. "She's the exercise genius of all time," Gwyneth says. "She developed this system of kind of doing dance aerobics so that you're not doing anything repetitive."After meeting Tracy in Los Angeles, Gwyneth recommended her methods to her good friend, Madonna. Using cardio dance routines and resistance training, Tracy has helped both women transform their bodies. "She makes everything small," Gwyneth says. "She wants women to be long and lean and defined."
Most days, Gwyneth works out with Tracy at her home gym, but when she's traveling, she says she won't leave home without Tracy's exercise DVDs. "I do those DVDs whenever I travel," she says. "She completely changed my body."
Want a body like Gwyneth's? If so, prepare to lift, squat and sweat for two hours a day, six days a week! "I work freakin' hard," she says. "It's no accident."
In addition to these intense routines, Tracy helps her clients lose inches by cranking up the heat to 80 degrees. "She likes it hot in the room so you sweat, because she says if the room is hot, you're also burning calories to maintain homeostasis," Gwyneth says. "She's always coming up with new ways to kick up the calorie burning."
The routine starts with Tracy's band system. "I developed the band system for Madonna, specifically, which we use to warm up the arms," Tracy says. "It just offers me a new way of getting to the muscle and the angles that I need to get a little bit deeper."
Then, Gwyneth moves on to arm exercises that require little to no resistance. "Only 3-pound weights," Tracy says. "No woman should lift more than 3 pounds."
At 35 years old, Gwyneth says she's realized she can either starve herself or eat what she wants and do serious cardio to maintain her shape. "There's no free ride," she says.
Thanks to her intense workouts, she says she doesn't have to watch her diet quite as carefully these days. "I don't eat four-legged animals, but I eat birds, I eat cheese, I eat dessert," she says. "I eat everything."

Madonna's Workout with Tracy Anderson
A short-term diet that ensures a weight loss of 3 to 5 pounds a week over six weeks, combined with one to two-hour workout routines six times a week."It's perfectly healthy", Madonna's trainer Tracy Anderson told US Weekly. "My formula works on everyone as long as they're consistent", adds the personal trainer, who has a studio in L.A and promises she can shape pretty much any body into a "teeny-tiny dancer type". The key to Anderson's fitness regime (and the key to Madonna's ultra-fit physical shape) is to constantly change the routine and mix dancing with other types of cardio training (such as treadmill sprints, jumping rope or running on a trampoline) as well as various other types of crunches and weight lifting. The constant switching will prevent any group of muscles from bulking up.
