Transformers Film Review
More than meets the eye
The transformers have come to earth in a winner take all sci-fi quest to find the 'all spark' an ancient device that can breathe life into inanimate machines. Optimus Prime and the autobots will have to battle Megatron and his decepticons in order to keep it from their clutches.
In the transformers movie there are a good number of laughs with ebay getting a few humerous plugs. The Transformers individial quirks add some further mirth. Bumblebee has lost his voice in battle and has to communicate by blasting song quotes from his car radio. Frenzy, the Decepticon spy minibot, is as quirky as you would expect a robot with the alter ego of a CD player to be.
The Transformers film is a fun robot and vehicle action movie. It does go on for two and a half hours so see something else if you are not interested in extended battle scenes between humanoid machines.
The special effects created through CGI are the basis for most of the high tech magic. Watching the Transformers switch between automobile and humanoid is mesmerising. Plenty of laser beams and shockwaves for people who like bright flashy things.
Michael Bay, Spielberg and the Dreamworks studio have created a fun piece of cinema that has entertainment value for most members of the family. This is not just a movie for kids and those pop culture fans who remember the original cartoon.
There are some elements that have given the Transformers movie a mature audience only age restriction. It's stronger themes are probably no worse than what your kids talk about in the school playground, but perhaps leave grandma at home.
Expect the Transformers sequels to be released in the future. Spielberg has been quoted saying that the first film will be the best, so if you only see one transformers film this decade, make it this one.
