Transformers The Movie

The Transformers: The Movie is a 1986 animated feature film based on the animated series of the same name. It was released in North America on August 8, 1986.

The film was directed by Nelson Shin, who produced the original Transformers television series, and features the voices of Eric Idle, Judd Nelson, Leonard Nimoy, Casey Kasem, Robert Stack, John Moschitta, Jr., Peter Cullen and Frank Welker. It was also the final role for both Orson Welles and Scatman Crothers.

The story takes place in 2005, 20 years after the events of the TV series' second season and serves to bridge into the third season. Set to a hard-driving metal music soundtrack, the movie has a decidedly darker tone than the television series, with detailed visuals in Toei Animation's typical animated feature film styling, and Decepticon villains that are more menacing, killing without hesitation. The film features several grand battles in which a handful of major characters meet their end. The film's tagline was: "Beyond Good. Beyond Evil. Beyond Your Wildest Imagination."

Autobots

Autobot, a faction of sentient robots from the planet Cybertron, are usually the main protagonists in the fictional universe of the Transformers, a collection of various toys, graphic novels, paperback books, cartoons and movies first introduced in 1984. In all but one Transformer story, the "Heroic Autobots" are opposed by the "Evil Decepticons"?the main antagonists in Transformers. Both Autobots and Decepticons are humanoid robots that can transform into machines, vehicles and other familiar mechanical objects. Autobots often turn into civilian vehicles but some are aircraft and military vehicles. While the Autobots have usually found themselves outnumbered by the Decepticons (early in generation 1 they outnumbered the Decepticons 2 to 1), the Autobots have always had home-field advantage, having not only the human's military support, but also having more places on Earth to fall back on, while the Decepticons are entirely unwelcome on Earth.

The primary protagonist and commander of the Autobots on Earth is usually Optimus Prime.

Decepticons

:"Deceptacon" redirects here, but is also the name of a song by the group Le Tigre.

The Decepticons (Autobots being their enemies) are usually depicted as the Antagonists in the fictional universes of the Transformers toyline and related comics and cartoons. The villains take many forms, and have many different origins and stories across the numerous different Transformers media, but in almost all incarnations, they are led by Megatron. They are typically represented by the purple facial insignia they all wear. Primarily, Decepticons have red eyes, while Autobots have blue eyes. They are known for their air power, especially since many of them turn into aircraft like Starscream. They can turn into military vehicles, construction vehicles and even smaller-than-human-sized objects, like Frenzy, who is in Barracade's chest.

Most Decepticons think very little of humans and consider them no better than pests or "insects". This is strongly emphasized in the 2007 film Transformers, when Megatron is seen flicking a human like a bug and saying "disgusting". Another example is when the Decepticon Frenzy complained about how the "stupid insects" tried to shoot him. In the animated series, Starscream works with the human, Doctor Arkeville and comments about how little he cares about destroying the entire planet Earth in order to achieve his goal.

In the Japanese version of the franchise, the Decepticons are called Destron or Deathtron ( Desutoron). The one exception to this naming convention is Car Robots, where the sub-group referred to as "Decepticons" in the Category: Transformers - : Robots in Disguise|Robots in Disguise adaptation, is known in Japan as the Combatrons (the Japanese name of the G1 subgroup known as the Combaticons). The overall name of the Robots in Disguise villain faction is Destronger.

Other terms for the Decepticons are Decepticans (in France), Distructors (in Italy), Robotikák or Álcák (In Hungarian), Bedragarna (in Sweden) and Shakranikim ().

Optimus Prime

:This refers to the original television show character. For other uses see Optimus Prime (disambiguation)

Optimus Prime is a fictional character and the protagonist of the Transformers universes. Before being transformed into Optimus Prime his name was Orion Pax.

Megatron

Megatron is a character from the Transformers series, created by toy companies Hasbro and Takara. He is the evil leader of the Decepticons and the primary antagonist of the series.
