Trash The Wedding Dress - Romantic Finale For Your Beach Wedding Dress

Trash the dress? It's the hottest new trend in beach weddings. The stunning bride in her elegant, white wedding dress, sparkling as the sea at her enchanting beach wedding location... a beautiful beach wedding ceremony... a treasured memory... So you wonder: Wouldn't you want to preserve your dress forever? (Or sell it to recoup some costs?)

The day after the beach wedding, the ceremony is over and the couple is more relaxed and feeling ever so romantic. So now's the time for a dramatic wedding photo shoot - something more free spirited that focuses on the bride's unique personality and allure.

This is about creative photography, non-traditional wedding photos of brides in unlikely places like alleys, fields, deserted roads, rock-climbing, amusement parks... or beaches, lakes, streams, waterfalls. Beaches and beach wedding dresses are the most common and romantic. In fact, this is not really about the wedding dress at all.

I love it when the new husbands get involved... and it gets romantic. After all, this is about the COUPLE, not just the bride... the exciting beginning of your new life together. The couple may dance, romance, hug, kiss, play, and roll in the sand. Whatever is fun and is THEM! Whatever is YOU!

So why not get a good professional photographer experienced with creative "trash the dress" wedding photography... have your favorite, romantic music playing... and trash the wedding dress with glorious abandon?

When You Trash The Wedding Dress, Is It Ruined?

Trash The Wedding Dress is about Creation - Creating and Preserving Memories for a Lifetime! - It's Glamour Photography At Its Best

"Trash wedding gown" doesn't necessarily mean that your wedding dress will be truly "trashed." Many beach wedding dresses come clean of the sand and salt... but remember, it's all about preserving memories, not about the dress. In fact, one "Trash The Dress" video I watched had creative wedding dress photo shoots in all manner of water - under a waterfall, in a clear stream, in fountains, and on the beach in sand, ocean, and mud. Same bride, same dress... And the ending notice made me chuckle, something to the effect: "No wedding dress was harmed during the filming of this movie."

And if your new husband gets involved, it's about creating even more romantic memories the images that will last in your hearts and minds forever, a constant reminder of your love. That's worth far more than a wedding dress!

If you want to trash your beach wedding dress, discuss with your wedding photographer just how far you are willing to go with this. You may just want to tip-toe through the tides and dance on the beach, or you may want to dive under the waves and come up with a full roll of your hair, perhaps then captured in a romantic kiss.

This is all yours. Whatever feels right for you. It is supposed to be a spontaneous, liberating, free-spirited event when you can be as creative as you wish, while capturing alluring images and enjoying your wedding dress one more time. In fact, some brides insist this event gives the wedding dress even more life. Even if the dress is then "beached" or "retired," what a way to go!

It's about creation, not destruction! So forget that old boring pose with clasped hands in front of an oak tree. Let the wind flow through your hair, the waves lap at your ankles, your veil blow in the wind, your body dance... and whatever you and your love want. You will end up with glamorous photos that look like a celebrity shoot, as though they are straight out of the pages of VOGUE magazine!

"Trash The Dress" Explained On Wikipedia

How would you define "Trash The Dress?"

Here's what Wikipedia has to say about "Trash The Dress" - or more correctly stated, "Trash The Wedding Dress" or "Trash The Beach Wedding Dress."

Category: File - :KT-Photography_Trash-The-Dress-02_www.kt-photo.co.uk.jpg|right|thumb|294px|More examples in an urban setting.

Trash the dress, also known as fearless bridal or rock the frock, is a style of wedding photography that contrasts elegant clothing with an environment in which it is out of place. It is generally shot in the style of fashion and glamour photography.

Usually brides decide to have pictures taken on a beach, but other locations include city streets, rooftops, garbage dumps, fields, and abandoned buildings.

Some sources claim that the trend was originally started in 2001 by Las Vegas wedding photographer John Michael Cooper. However, the idea of destroying a wedding dress has been used in Hollywood symbolically since at least October 1998 when Meg Cummings of the show Sunset Beach ran into the ocean in her wedding dress after her wedding was badly interrupted. Since then the style has spread around the world and most notably in the UK, with photographers like Steve Gerrard and Mark Theisinger, amongst others, shoot their unique ideas of Trash the Dress.

A model often wears a ball gown, prom dress or wedding dress, and may effectively ruin the dress in the process by getting it wet, dirty or in extreme circumstances tearing or destroying the garment.

It may be done as an additional shoot after the wedding, almost as a declaration that the wedding is done and the dress will not be used again. It is seen as an alternative to storing the dress away, never to be seen again.

How Did The "Trash The Dress" Glamour Wedding PhotographyTrend Get Started?

The recent Trash The Dress phenomenon is spreading in popularity around the world for creative wedding photography and romantic, liftime wedding dress memories.

"Trash The Wedding Dress" is a new wedding photography trend that is attributed to a New Orleans based wedding photographer, Mark Eric. He latched onto the idea and began to popularize it with his more free-spirited bridal clients after seeing an article by Las Vegas photographer, John Michael Cooper. In the article, Cooper coined the phrase "trash the dress" while shooting non-traditional wedding photos of brides after their ceremonies, and it stuck.

Now many professional wedding photographers are adopting trash the dress photo shoots that display their talents to the fullest, make the bride look like a glamorous model, and create more fun and excitement all the way around. This is not the kind of work for your run-of-the-mill wedding photographer, but requires a more limber, outdoor photographer and or videographer. Some photographers who do this kind of creative work will do the trash the dress photo shoot even if they aren't retained for the actual wedding photography.

You can find the best "trash the wedding dress" photographers and see samples of their work through a "Google search" on the internet - and match that with you chosen beach wedding location. As the YouTube videos show, the trend is popular from Tahiti to Cabo San Lucas, from North Carolina through Florida to the Caribbean ... and on to beaches all over the world. "Trash the wedding dress" is certainly an exciting option to entertain as you proceed with your beach wedding planning!

What Is The Cost Of A "Trash The Wedding Dress" Photo Shoot?

Good photographers are not cheap, and a trash the dress photo shoot can take 60-120 minutes (or longer), but there are ways...

The price of your trash the dress photo shoot will depend upon many factors - such as how many scenes you shoot and how difficult the scenes are. I saw one photo shoot where the bride was climbing rocks, and the shoot was from both below the bride and above her on a cliff. Obviously, that would be more expensive than a flat beach scene... unless the photographer is eager to do the work to build his creative portfolio.

In addition to the difficulty of the photo shoot and number of scenes you shoot, is your decision to shoot all still photography or also video. (Of course, your stills can later be used to create a "video" slide show set to romantic music.) Then of course, there's the related consideration of how long your trash the wedding dress session will last. (Who says you can't continue with your romantic romp after the photographer leaves?)

An important price variable is how far the photographer has to travel to the "trash the dress" photo shoot location. If you have a photographer who lives near your beach wedding location, then that cost is greatly reduced. If your wedding photographer offers a "trash the dress" photo shoot as part of a package deal, then you can have even greater savings.

If you know a local photographer who is great with both creative "people shots" and outdoor photography, then you might strike a deal to help him build his new wedding photography and "trash the dress" portfolio. You are doing him a service, helping him get started in this lucrative and hot new field, so strike a deal!
