RVing across Canada & through the USA

My RV (recreational vehicle) is a great way to travel since I get to take my 'home away from home' with me when I go visiting new and interesting places across Canada and into the United States. I would also like to visit Mexico, Alaska and the Yukon by motorhome; however, I haven't gone that far yet! My vehicle is known as a B-Plus sized motorhome which means that while it is small and compact, it has a slide-out for extra space and comfort when I am in a campground.
RV travel is great for singles, couples and families! If you have a cat or a dog...you can take them with you too! If you do not own an RV, you might think about renting one and giving it a try for a weeks holiday. Imagine the places you could visit. I think the camping lifestyle is a great experience for everyone. Give it a try! Read about my RV'ing experiences...

My trip review, in a nutshell

RVing

The first trip in the RV that I ever went on by myself was the time I drove to Florida for the winter. It was an adventure! Traveling alone is quite exciting and scary! You have no one to rely on but yourself for the whole journey. Of course I got lost and things went wrong, but what a rush when I actually arrived in the campground safe and sound! The reward was that I got to spend the winter in the warmth and sunshine; met lots of new friends from all over; and by the end of the season became much more self-confident and self-reliant than I had ever been before.

2. The Miami Zoo

3. The Coral Castle

4. The Monkey Jungle

5. The Florida Keys

Size Matters

2's company 3's a crowd...be sure you have the room!

One of the things that salespeople always tell you is..."This RV will sleep 4 or 6 or 10!" They like to emphasize that because it makes you think you're getting a bigger bargain for your buck as you increase the size of your motorhome. While you can actually sleep that any people, don't ever believe what they say...NO matter how LARGE your motorhome is, it's really only meant for a maximum of two!

Dry Camping

RV Camper

My favourite camping is actually called dry camping...it's done in the more remote areas under the open sky. With a smaller recreational vehicle, it is not the most practical way to camp; however, it is possible for one or two nights and days if you are careful to preserve your water supply. My next best camping experience has been in national, state or provincial campgrounds. They tend to be most like remote camping in nature while having a few more amenities available for those who like this kind of recreation. Of course, there are many lovely privately owned and KOA campgrounds all over America. You can even find them in the Yukon and Alaska!

Readers: Where do you like to vacation?

I was never a fan of cold, winter ski weather...I would take Florida's sunshine any time! After my first visit there, I know why they call Florida the fountain of youth for snowbirds. I think camping is a terrific way to travel and stay more inexpensively and for a longer period of time...besides, you get to sleep in your own home away from home and spend your winter in a warm, cheerful climate.

Would you rather spend your winter on the ski slopes or in the warmth and sunshine?

Anywhere warm, my old bones are tired of the Kansas ice and snow.

Sun! Give me sun any day of the week

vallain says:

Give me Florida for the winter. Aches and pains are much less in a warm climate as you get older.

jgelien says:

Sunshine, but my opinion might be slanted right now because it's December and I'm cold!

Jack2205 says:

I love to travel everywhere in an RV and Florida is my favorite state. I prefer tropical weather over the cold and snow.

I used to be a cold weather gal. And then I spent a week lying by a pool under a palm tree.

That's like a Limo Hotel! I bet that is so fun. I've always wanted to travel across country in one of those. Great lens. Take more pictures next time you go. I want to see them. Not sure which is which, but I'd rather warm sunshine if I'm RV'ing.

Bavari Boy says:

Being able to travel and see the countryside sounds like a great way to vacation! I think it would be best in the warmth and sunshine...summer or winter!

These days, I have been on a different journey...I am now the President of the condominium I call home.
