What to Blog About
The great thing about a travel blog, is you can do and write about so much, especially if you're on the road. Here's just a few idea's to keep you busy:
1. If you're traveling, write about it. Get creative, give out all the juicy details about the roads, people, foods, smells, noise's, transport etc.
2. Photo blogs - A great way to show of a destination is to simply post photo's. Maybe even write a hundred words about what it is, where it is.......
3. Diary Style. This is great if your a great writer. The problem with this style is that only your Mum loves it! People that don't know you may not, and therefore you won't make money!
4. Reviews - Remember, you will not be the last person to visit there. Review hotels, attractions, restaurants, transport etc. People find this useful for their own trip.
5. History/Culture - Each country and city has it's own history or traditions, so write about them. Include photos and heaps details.
6. All of the above! The best option!
Check out my blog Vietnam Travel Notes for idea's.
Ways to Make Money
You can also sell images online through stock photography agencies such as Dreamstime.com or Fotolia.com. Both these allow you to set up an account for free, then you simply upload your images, add keywords and descriptions and then wait. The great thing about this is you can actively promote your images on your blog with simple html code.

2. By using affiliate programs, you can also cash in. As an affiliate, you simply promote some else's product and then get a commission if someone buys.
You will need to register first (free) and then add banners, text links etc to your blog. If you use the links carefully, you can certainly make some good money. Remember don't over do it and keep it relevant!
Try these affiliate programs to begin with:
3. You can also make good money by simply writing about other peoples blogs/products. There are now tons of sites offering pay per post style jobs for anyone (that meets their requirements).
This is a great way to make money as you can accept/decline as you please. Here are a few of the major ones that have plenty of offers once you join (again free to join)
- Bidvertiser.com
- Sponsoredreviews.com
- Payperpost.com
4. Write an EBook! Many people out there are looking for free, up to date information on travel destinations. So write about places to stay, where to eat, how to get there/around town etc. Make it short, sharp and to the point, then add some affiliate links which can help you make some money! Check out my new EBook on Hanoi - Vietnam!
Another thing you should think about, is payment! How are you going to receive all that fabulous, juicy money!!
If you're on the road, you don't want to be messing around with cheques and banking. So sign up with PayPal.com and receive your payments electronically, directly into your bank account. It's extremely safe (Millions of people use it!) and it's extremely cheap (more money for you!)
