Don't worry, it doesn't need to be a painfull ordeal, full of insurance jargon, small print, and "legal-ese". Travelers want insurance so they can enjoy their trip with out worry. You shouldn't have to spend hours reading policies or talking to insurance agents.

What is travel insurance?
"Travel insurance" is an insurance that is intended to cover financial and other losses incurred while travelingIf you get sick and end up in the hospital the day before departure, travel insurance will cover your cancelled plane tickets, hotel, and tour costs.
If you slip and fall in a foreign country, travel insurance will pay for the hospital expense, and any medical transportation.
If your bags are lost forever or even damaged, travel insurance will cover them.
If your trip is cut short due to an injury, illness, or even a death in the family, travel insurance will cover the expenses.
If a hurricane destroys your resort, travel insurance will cover you.
You get the idea. There are many risks when you travel, and any one of them can cause alot of pain and financial loss.

Why do I need travel insurance?
So you can sleep better. Travelers spend a lot of time and money planning their vacations. Why risk all that time and money when you can easily protect yourself?The idea is to get away, relax, see something new, have an adventure. You shouldn't worry about getting sick, having an accident, losing your bag, or missing a flight.
Travel insurance is meant to protect your investment in your vacation. Travelers spend thousands of dollars on their vacation, and leave it all up to chance without trip coverage.
Your health insurance from home does not work in foreign countries. They don't accept it, and a stay in the hospital can cost thousands.
If you need medical transportation to the nearest hospital or to return home, it can easily cost upwards of $100,000.
Who needs travel insurance?
Students need insurance when traveling overseas. This includes US citizens studying abroad, or foreign citizens studying here in the USVacationers need insurance to cover their trip investment. Airfare, hotel, cruise, and tour costs can be lost if the trip needs to be cancelled
Employees of international companies need insurance to cover medical expenses while away from home. US medical insurance does not work overseas.
Retirees who love to travel need insurance because Medicare does not cover outside the US
Expats living abroad, where their US health insurance does not cover
As you can see, travel insurance is not just for exotic world travelers. Nearly every type of travaler can use insurance protection. From families going on vacation for a week, to student backpackers traveling Europe, there is a policy to protect you and your trip.
When should I buy travel insurance?
The earlier, the betterWhen you start planning your trip, start researching travel insurance as well. Group it in with your research for airfare, hotels, and tours.
When you start making defnite plans, buying tickets or making deposits, that is when you want to purchase insurance
There is no advantage to waiting to buy. In fact, it could hurt you to wait until the last minute.
Certain policy benefits only apply when you purchase the policy within 10-15 days of initial trip deposits.

The best place to buy travel insurance is onlineWhen you work with a travel agent or general insurance agent, you usually have one policy to choose from. You either take it or leave it, the price is set, you have no choice.
