Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico

Mazatlan is known as a party city and has an exceptionally good night life. Some popular destinations include Sumbawa, Joe's Oyster, Valentino's, and Senor Frogs. The city gets crazy around American Spring Break when all city is flooded with American students looking for fun. Mazatlan also has a five day festival (which is purported to be one of the largest in the world) near the end of February.

Mazatlan has several prime locations where you can try out your surfing skills. The most popular spot is a beach called Playa Bruja in the Northern part of the city. The waves easily reach heights of 8-10 feet and there is almost always a vendor from whom you can rent surfboards.

Mazatlan is a Nahuatl word meaning "place of the deer."

Mazatlan

Cheap, laid-back, and blessed with sunny beaches, Mazatlan is evolving from a spring-break destination into a resort perfect for travelers looking to keep it simple. At this fisherman's paradise, where the waters of the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean meet, tuna swim all year. When the season is right, marlin, sailfish, and swordfish are also abundant. As if that weren't enough, Mazatlan also offers freshwater lakes where anglers find some of the world's best bass fishing. This area will not remain a simple retreat forever, though. Golf courses are popping up, and fancier boats are beginning to fill the harbor-but for now, Mazatlan's value and natural attractions make it an excellent pick for a relaxing escape.

Mazatlan IS Paradise

Don't plan a visit to Mexico without first reading about the advantages of Mazatlan as a vacation paradise. Once you visit Mazatlan, the same thing will happen to you that happened to many visitors. You will continue to return, and you may even decide to make your home in the Paradise of the Pacific. The book also has valuable information for "snowbirds," as well as permanent residents of Mazatlan.

Moon Handbooks Pacific Mexico: Including Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara, Acapulco, and Oaxaca

Stretching over 1,000 miles along the Pacific coast from Mazatlan in Sinaloa down to Bahias de Huatulco in Oaxaca, the choices of tropical, palm-lined lagoons and soft sandy beaches seem without end yet easily accessible, thanks to Mexico's Highway 200 on the Pacific coast and a plethora of airplane access. Yet not each beach resort town is the same in character and opportunities. One of the great services rendered by Whipperman's handbook, before you ever set foot on Mexican soil, is the concise yet evocative description of the distinguishing personalities of the many towns and cities along the water. Especially useful if you're venturing south for the first time, Whipperman's introductions help you plan your itinerary to suit your mood and style. Of course he backs his narrative up with all the facts one might need, the hotels and restaurants, means of transportation and nightlife, shopping, sports, sights, and beaches. But he fleshes these guidebook details out with his sensitive and scholarly attention to the people, history and culture, the land and sea, the vegetation and the animals to be seen and experienced. All the options are spelled out, from the hedonistic immersion in resort relaxation to a glossary of helpful Spanish if you choose to explore further afield.

Greetings Imagelist!

I have indeed been to Mazatlan! In fact, i think i made the first lens for a hotel in Mazatlan. I don't know if you're familiar with El Rancho, but it's a beautiful small and quiet hotel in Mazatlan, right on the beach. I'm putting a link from there to your lens, and i'd love it if you'd consider putting a link to my lens as well. The lens is at: Escaping to Paradise - Vacations at "El Rancho" Beach Resort in Mazatlan
