Mazatlan, Mexico
Mazatlan has several prime locations where you can try out your surfing skills. The most popular spot is a beach called Playa Bruja in the Northern part of the city. The waves easily reach heights of 8-10 feet and there is almost always a vendor from whom you can rent surfboards.
Mazatlan is a Nahuatl word meaning "place of the deer."

Mazatlan
Cheap, laid-back, and blessed with sunny beaches, Mazatlan is evolving from a spring-break destination into a resort perfect for travelers looking to keep it simple. At this fisherman's paradise, where the waters of the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean meet, tuna swim all year. When the season is right, marlin, sailfish, and swordfish are also abundant. As if that weren't enough, Mazatlan also offers freshwater lakes where anglers find some of the world's best bass fishing. This area will not remain a simple retreat forever, though. Golf courses are popping up, and fancier boats are beginning to fill the harbor-but for now, Mazatlan's value and natural attractions make it an excellent pick for a relaxing escape.
