Travel Further on Less Cash

Make your vacation budget stretch further next time, with cheap flights, hotel room deals and money saving tips. We have hundreds of links to travel discounts, plus features on the latest best places to travel around the world.

Are you looking for cheap airfares, car rentals, hotels or hostels? We are dedicated to helping you find the best deals, worldwide. Adults and students who want discounted travel fares will feel at home, too - enjoy touring the world at any age, on any budget.

Budget travellers may wonder whether they will save more money by booking the transport, accommodation and vacation excursions separately with  airline or train tickets and hotel reservations, or choose a package holiday where you will get all the basics included in the price quoted.  The savings from each booking method will vary according to your destination, when you are planning to travel and the number of travellers in your party.  If you are planninga vacation in a popular European city for a short break you can make real savings by booking the trip independently.  The package trips to France or Amsterdam are unlikely to be the cheapest option as there are so many flights and train routes that you can shop around for a big discount on your travel.  Also if you book your hotel in advance you will make a big saving on the standard hotel room rate.

Devon - Rural Idyll

South Devon has fabulous countryside and coast

I visited Devon in 2007 for a restful UK holiday. We were travelling with our dog, and we were very pleased with the dog friendly hotels where we stayed. South Devon is my preferred area as I find the north coast a little too wild and the sea is calmer in the south. The weather in early August was hot and sunny almost all the time, which made it far more enjoyable to explore the area. The picture shows our visit to Hunts Cider Farm in Yalberton, which is on the outskirts of Paignton. This is not the usual tedious 'visitor centre'! You drive down a narrow lane that seems a million miles from modern life and pull up in the small drive next to the farm. Ring the bell and Mrs Hunt senior will slide back the window to sell you the cider that you want. Walk along the lane and you will see the orchards laden with the apples for next year's cider. Go a little further to the stream where the original presses were powered by water. Production now meets all modern standards but the Hunt family have managed to hold on to the charm of traditional small scale cider production.

I love to travel, finding ways to go on a limited budget.  With our dog we also look out for the best dog friendly places - beaches, pubs, parks,... (more)
